I bought a 6x8" Wacom a couple of weeks ago, having been inspired by C. Mullins website over the last couple of years to get into digital painting.

My journey towards fulfilling my dreams has now begun. In the far future, I'd love to be able to show others exactly what is dreamt/conceived in my mind, and I feel this is the medium to do so. I've always enjoyed showing others imagery and concepts that they haven't seen or thought of before, and it's their positive feedback that makes me (and no doubt you) continue developing skills to better communicate visually.

Wow- that almost sounded like a rave! I've gotta stop myself sometimes.

All I wanted to say is hi! I've just found this groovy forum and have fallen in love with it already! I hope you all are able to pop in to the little beginning gallery I've begun and see if I should continue or just give up now

I'd love to hear from y'all soon!

Welcome to the forum! I know you will learn a lot form all the generous and talented people here.

I am really flattered that you like my work so much, that is really cool.

But I have one request, could you take that off your Sig? I think people here might be a little put off by it. Thanks! I am truly sorry if this come out wrong or if I offend anyone by asking this. I may be outside my bounds, I don't know.

Hey Shannon. Nice to hear from someone so excited about Digital Art! As Spooge mentionned, I think you'll find here many talented people who are pretty much all willing to share their knowledge and experience... it's great. =]

I can also relate to you inspiration from Craig's work -- I admit that the first time I saw hiw photoshop work I said to myself, "yeah, right"... then by looking at them further, it just blew me away and proved to me that photoshop painting CAN have photorealistic results, which is what I have wanted to do for as long as I remember (with little luck). As of now, I sepperate my images as pre- and the post-Craig era... as he had such a great influence on me.

Eh, enough babbling. Welcome to the forum! =)

Just finished looking at Frost's webpage- you've got some fantastic work up! Of course, the cloud one is my favourite- conceptually brilliant =)

American Dream is great also- thanks for putting the steps in- I know I'm on the right track.

On thing that always frustrated me about Spooge's website is that there were big 'gaps' in the how-I-work pages. (Step 3-REALLY sketchy, Step 4-Photo-realistic!) haha I think the most important step would have to be the original pencil sketch. I quite often skip it, and things turn out bad because of it.

A wacom is like using a pallpoint pen on a snot covered windshield. It takes some time to get used to.

Some people put a piece of paper (cotton vellum works best I think) to give it a friendlier feel, with a little drag.

I always have problems with *snot covered windshields* especially during springtime. My wiperblades just smear it around, not to mention all the bugs that get stuck and suffer a horrible suffocating death. It is entertaining, however, on those long roadtrips to the Craig Mullins Museum.

Yeah true- it is pretty slippery. I'll grab some of that material you suggested and give it a try.

What's the deal with these tutorials I've heard about here- have they begun, or are they hosted on another website, or what?

As I say, I've only joined up yesterday and am trying to get the gist of the last 10,000 posts.... =)
