Iposted this on Mozes thread, but I figured it deserved a prompt on the replys...

Mozeman and Co. we are going to be starting tuesday morning. Spooge and I are in contact. He has been super busy and I have been swamped, plus I am still writing the rest of the tutorial steps out.

Spooge and I have a few more issues to iron out and we begin. I am going to start my head tutorial on Tuesday, more likely after work, so after six P.M. California time. The thing is friggin huge, so I am going to release three steps about every three or four days apart. And we will begin the paint along with Spooge, er, now Fred, which will be going over the right way to work this head painting out, and I think you will all be surprised at the direction we will begin with. It was great to see all the images everyone did. And remember, that wasn't the tutorial, it was just a post thread. Now we will all go in the right direction...

At any rate, the tutorial and the paint along will both focus on the head of the Indian man, since we are all fairly familiar with him. And I will post a thread where ya'll can post your updated version of the head drawings. It will be a little slow on my end for a short while, as I have to write all these steps out, and I have my jobs to deal with. But be patient, I will critique every one of them that I can get to, as quickly as I can get to them.

The first few steps of the tutorial are going to feel very elementary to some of you, but hey, I even learned a thing or two that was a little unclear to me from drawing them up. It never hurts to bone up on your fundamentals. We will be going slow. Snails pace...Since we don't have the luxury of a live model we are working with a flat image, that has been distorted in its compression. This is very difficult to use to get points across, but I will try my best.

When you get this information, I can't stress enough that you need to find a figure drawing workshop, or class or something, and try to apply the information you acquire there. It really is best understood when told aobut it, watching a live demo, and having a model present, so you begin to really begin to understand true three dimensionality. Blah blah blah...This isn't the tutorial, so I will let you all be now. Just gonna wait to hear back from Craig, then we begin the art training on Tuesday.

This is the stuff I teach at the art school I am currently instructing, only you guys get this free. Drawback, no model...I just hope the info can be understood without too many complications.

I am looking forward to this, I think it's gonna be pretty cool. You guys are going to learn alot of stuff. And remember, it can be applied to any style you work with. These are the fundamental building blocks of proper construction. The magic to learning proper figure drawing is that it is one of the most complex forms to understand. There are many levels of understanding that go into great figure drawing and painting. Once you learn them, you can literally learn to draw and or paint anything. Everything is relative at that point. There is no real difference in a person, a car, a seascape, a candle, etc. They are all constructed to read properly in art with fundamentals applied, that apply to all things. We will be learning these fundamentals, and having fun along the way. If you don't enjoy the learning process you are missing a big part of all this.

I'm stepping off the damn soapbox now, I need to write tutorials...

And Mozeman, if you want to contribute tothe whole, chime in. Add to the list of class instruction with something. You are an amazing artist with alot of good things to say, I would love to learn what you know about story telling. Since your in the industry, it will be more fact filled and current. Speaking of which, everyone who wants to be involved with great animation skills should get the book "The Illusion of Life". It is a Disney book, and the bibile to animation, and animation story telling. No one should have a bookshelf without that book. Much to learn from it...

classes are going to be threads...posted right here...they are simply posts...the tutorials will also be found in a fancy page format, at 3D Pallette when they get back up and running, and at Anticz.com where mike has some sweet 3d tutorials already posted. You should check them out...

They will always be here on the forum. There ain't no way I can hang out and wait for images toarrive. I will be doing my usual post run, about every few hours or so to see what's new, and or when time allows. I am getting hit with some heavy deadlines here with Myst, so time is scarce, and most precious. Just keep checking in when you do, and hopefully there will be a steady flow of the tutorials, as I fear I may slip a little on that every 3 or 4 day release. Also I will try to get to each image if I can. If you get a few weeks behind, post all the steps on the most current thread, as these may end up getting lapped like a lot of the posts lately. There just seems to be so much traffic. That's good right?

Remember, were all in this together to learn. There shall be no shredding other work here. We are a big art family here, let's encourage and support everyone and their efforts. We all have something to learn from one another. And believe it or not, since this is chat style, critiquing will come from everyone. Hopefully those of you who get this stuff already can help critique, and offer up suggestions.

In the school I where I teach, we all do this very above mentioned...it makes everyone feel more confident in themselves while learning. Wherein there are the typical art institutes, run on the grade system. Not very condusive to the creative soul to be graded and compared to all the others by yourfaculty. This can break the creative soul we may have in us....Support, unite...jahmahn...

Humanclay, you are absolutely welcome, and anyone else...this is my traet. I just hate knowing that so many people are deprived of art programs, art curiculums, schools, lack of money, motivation, etc. Then there are a few little schools out there that host the information you seek, but they don't even exist in the phone books. I love helping people when I can, especially when it is something I love doing too. I have the info, so you will too.

Fragamite, I know where you can get the illusion of life. I am looking at it right now..Have you heard of Bud Plant Comic Art? They have it for a new reduced price of 29.95 They have an online website, you can order it there. Amazon will get it for you too...but bud plant has it now...

I know people is already posted this ..but I would like to thank you once more fred . for the time you are taking .to share your knowledge with us. This kinda stuff cannot be taught at a regular school .. because, teachers dont have enought time to teach technique .. they only have time to teach the tools and how to use them .. but technique is very important. I think, this step by step will be a great learning experience ... I know a lot of people will be thankfull . (more than you imagine) because I know a lot of people just read .. but not post their thoughts .. so you have a bigger audience than you think .. Again thank you .. you bring life to what the internet is all about "A Sharing Community".

I have ordered this from amazon twice, and one from another booksite who though they could get me an ex.. but no luck :/ ..allthough I did find a signed copy on "zshops" for $1000.. thanx for the tips though.
