Well, Rorshach is judging the headhunters 3 fan art contest, and i've just sent off my entry. Before some smart alec points out tha I'm late by a day, I sent it to the wrong e-mail addy originally.... I spelt 'rorschach' as in the Watchmen, adn not "rorshach" the Q2 skin god . Crap. Anyhoo, here it is. Critique is always welcome. I've noticed now that his right arm is slightly smaller than his left. and yes no one would really stand that way. and yes his hair defies gravity

Whoa, that's cool! I like the colours a lot. Too bad you didn't have time to give it a different background.
How did you get that texture on the boots?
It this coloured over a scanned ink drawing or was it all done in PS?
I really like this sort of stuff.

This is really good, I like the texture. The spattered blood is a nice touch. The only thing I don't like is the "outer glow". It seems to take away from the nice atmosphere of the actual drawing. |

It's a very nice drawing, but I find it difficult to focus on the character, because of that white contour around him. And it would definately look better with a background. |

I guess I am either a mindless drone or in the majority here, because a nice background would have really made the dif.
Good pic. With background. WINNER!

The drawing is very good. As far as the colours go, I'd like to see some warmer tones in there, though... |

well, i guess I can see what needs to be changed Thanks for all your comments.
JasonN : while I CAN work completely in Photoshop with my Intuos pad, I prefer to do pencil sketches. It's still a tidge more natural, plus I never really sit down and draw... I just whip out a piece of paper and my trusty HB pencil when I get bored/have no idea what the teacher is talking about/don't really care, either. :P It's more portable/convenient.
JasonN/cecil :: I keep my coloured areas on diff layers, so all the armour bits were on one layer. After shading and highlighting using dodge and burn, I simply duplicated the armour layer. On that new copy layer, I selected all and then nudged it up and down so that it would select the armoured bits. A quick jaunt to www.freetextures.com got me a handy rusty meta texture, which I greyscaled and EDIT..Define Pattern." Back to the selection on the copy layer, I simply filled it with the texture, and set the layer mode to overlay.
everyone : The white glow was a cheap trick. The image had some white bits around it left over form the original background colour, and the white glow was a fast way to hide 'em and get the damn thing done Now i realize it's really kinda offputting, so I'll go back and do a real job of it.
Again, thanks for all your comments

(PREVIOUS MESSAGE DELETED)
okay, no need for that anymore I didn't realize I had overwritten the previous carnun.jpg with the new version. Anyway, it's no longer got that crappy white glow and black background... just scroll up to the top and check her out.
