Here's a quick piece I did. If you're familiar with both the movie "Army of Darkness" as well as the HL mod Counterstrike this will mean something to you. If you don't..I pity you. hehe

Haha thats great I loved that movie! The face is awesome, the gun too as far as i can tell. But the hand looks kinda funny, where is the fourth finger? Is the pinky behind the gun or am I just missing some thing. You must have been using some kinda reference, it looks so much like that guy, actor whatever his name is! Background looks great too very affective. haha the memories I gotta watch that again!
oh just noticed whats that black line down his neck? If its the contour or something of the neck its a little too black needs to be a tiny more subtle. Maybe more in shadow I'm not sure just looks strange.

To refresh your memory, the actor's name is Bruce Campbell, 'Ash' in the movie.

Lol. Don't *EVEN* get my started on gun usage in CS. The point of the gun (besides the fact I use it all time) was the fact that it makes a loud thunderclap. ( I know, I know..the shotgun was the "boomstick"..but for CS purposes it is lame. |

One shot, one kill. That's the way it ought to be in every game.

though i like the pic i dislike the fact that its just overpainted...
if he'd painted it there wouldn't be artifacts everywhere when he saved it in best quality..

hey salty post your pic to http://csnation.counter-strike.net/cs-art/
and show those lame ass, all filter useing bastards how its done.
If you go and look at the cs-art you will notice about 80% of them use some type of grid or something to that effect.

To let you fellas know, I wasn't claiming I painted this. I simply Photoshopped the AWP into the picture over the shotgun and cleaned up the horrid screencapture from the movie. Hence me saying it was a "quick" piece.
I apologize if that was the impression given.
BTW..the technique in question (i.e. painting over a picture) is called rotoscoping and is employed by such powerhouses as Disney and all of Ralph Bakshi's work. (Although Disney would rather sell their artists into slavery before admitting it.) |

um. dude, disney invented rotoscoping. they don't deny that, so they sure as hell don't deny using it. i went to animation school, which was basically a farm team for disney, and they TAUGHT rotoscoping.
also, rotoscoping is an animation term, because the human models are used simply to get an accurate motion, not to get a whole scene. the term 'rotoscoping' doesn't apply to static art, especially not to painting over photographs.
another point to mention is that disney, along with other studios who use rotoscoping shoot the live-action footage themselves. they don't use screen-captures from movies. :P
i dunno, maybe this sounds nitpicky, but you seem to have some major misconceptions. |

*sigh*
Yes that is nitpicky dude. I realize that rotoscoping isn't static and that it isn't over screencaptures. Sheesh. I was referring to the concept of creating "art" over film. I attended an art college where Disney came and routinely picked top notch fellas for their studios. Back in the day, Disney wouldn't talk about rotoscoping, as it was seen as a bit of cheating. (And my final comment was supposed to be humourous.)
I guess some people on this board need to lighten up when it comes to fun pieces of art, whether they're touched up screencaptures or not.
But thanks for clearing up my "major misconceptions" |

Good lord, no people dissing the power of the almight Arctic Warfare Magnum Police Ed. True the 1-hit-kills thing sucks when you recieve but it's true. Hehe Accuracy International (makers of AWM/P) Make a .50 Cal. Rifle Hehe 1/2-hit-kill :P And a TMP? Don't even go there they butchered that in B6. It had a wicked ROF in early Beta's but they killed it in B6. And since the AWM/P makes the wickedest sound in B6 I sppreciate its use. My freind who (we live in Canada btw) went to Germany a few weeks ago, says that in Germany they all use AWM/P's in CS6. His alias is Krazy Kanadian, and he said he represents us well with the Colt/Commando(SIG)/MP5 against thoes silly Germans. AWM/P's just aren't for every situaution. But good ol' Ash looks lie he's got lots of backup so I say "Power to the AWP!"

Check the threads "A VERY FAST PIG" or "A VERY BIG BUNNY" "the adventures of Bum" or pretty much any of synj's stuff. i don't think the problem is that we lack a sense of humor, or that we're too uptight.
you can't blame people for being careful when we seem to have a constant stream of ripoff artists trying to pass themselves off as the real thing.
in the future, just make it obvious that you're posting a mocked up photo for fun, and nobody's gonna have a problem with it. you won't even have to worry about animation definitions & history. =)
for example:

Time for some REALLY CONTROVERSIAL photo doctoring!!!
Did this a while back, was sarcastically suggesting how the whole situation would make a really dumb CS map...
