I'm very new to 3d modeling and I wonder if any of you guys know a good and easy newbie tutorial for 3dsm.

For 3dsmax, there's an easy and very newbie-oriented tutorial in the manual.
(This isn't supposed to be any veiled "get yourself a legal copy" insult, I really mean that the tutorial in the manual is useful if you don't know anything about Max or 3d in general)

Maybe I'll get thrown in jail for suggesting this, but since you got your hands on a cracked copy of Max, there are also PDF versions of the manuals out there...

Well as a student I can't afford it...

Ah nutz, I wanna bet that only 10% of the
people in here actually bought some of the
damn programs (prolly because they earn a
living with art too)

propylene: there is a quite cheap student license for 3dmax.. funtions are the same like in normal version, but you are not allowed to use it for commercial work.
