Hate to say it, but I need some help on this anim. I keep working on so many other things that I am burnt out by the time I pick back up on it, and its killing me. I was looking for some suggestions maybe on what you think should happen, and help my brain work. (side note: these files are AVI)

KOY'S CONTINUANCE:

http://www.synj.net/files/koy2-320x240.zip
http://www.synj.net/files/koy2-160x120.zip
Those are both the same animation, just different image sizes.

-----

Anyways, to sum it up, that is the continuation of http://www.synj.net/files/koy-320x240.zip
following the single orangeyfat that had escaped. Two main things to keep in mind - that orangeyfat needs to be tagged somehow so he's set apart from the others, and also he cannot die. Or the storyline would be alot weaker, even though it IS nonsense.

That city the orangeyfat starts out in is a model city, which we will find out when koy enters the doorway on the right.

Also I felt like posting this again since it was so much fun to make:

Ok synj.. I have a few ideas that would be great when I watched this..

To me it seems as if Orangy fat is looking a wee bit lost, but he means no harm Despite his size...

Howerver on the other hand the other dude is obv on some sort of mission.. )dont knwo hsi name so I will refer him to purple dude)

Now to bring them both together I visualise somthing like this happining..

"From where the camera left off"

the purple guy walks further towards the edge of the joining hallway (just after the skate) then all of a sudden just before he turns the corner a big "crash" happens and a car or somthing was to fly straight down the corridor nearly hitting him (after orangy fat had kicked it without meaning too) - then due to what has happend he then throws himself back around the corner with his back to the wall for safty (animating him in a sigh of releif, and heavy breaths) - then orangy fat sees the disatster of the house he has nearly destroyed with the car.. that he stops and peeks through the hole that he created (with the car flying through), - now just as orangy fat is bending down to view through the hole.. the purple guy takes a few small steps towards the hallway, prepereing for the next thing to lauch at him (in case of) - then he slowly peeks round the corner to see if its safe.. then seens a hug white eye pearing at him. at what point he runs and screams jumps up and down with panic whatever ya wanna do with him, and Orangy fat does the same thing out of pure shock that they both casue so much dammage without realising what they have done......

Then of course you can take it a lil bit further.. after the shock is over.. they both meet face to face and have a staring match for about 10 secs... before orangy fat chases the purple guy (or vice versa) but due to the size limts, purple dude uses the rolerskate to his advantage that so happens to land just before orangy fats foot hits the ground, and whoops of he goes (crash bang etc etc)

ok ok thats enuff..

Creating a real comical scene..but I guess that you cant picture it in your head as I can..

But i Leave you with my thoughts and wish u luck

Hey synj

Are you on the cg-character mailing list? I can't remember if I ever saw you post there, but it's also a good resource for feedback.

doh, zor! heheeh that's not a bad idea, except they are both incredibly tiny. The orangeyfat is in a TOY city, not a real one. He's just in the next room to the right, where the hobbyist has dollhouses, cities, trainsets, etc within it, or whatever the storyline is leading to.

in this image, you can see the next room, or what I have of it anyways, with the toy city in the distance. (thats a stand-up sky)

francis - can't say that I am. Can you throw the url at me?

synj (and anyone else interested) -

Here is the address where you can subscribe to the cg-character animation mailing list. Lots of pros (game studios, fx houses, etc.) on this list, so there's always great stuff posted there and great feedback as well.

Agreed.
I totally recommend checking out the CG-CHAR mailing list.
I've been a subscriber for about 3 years now.
Huge range of folks on that list from students to pro's.

Synj, your stuff will definitely be well received there.
(I know I still owe you a response to your last email by the way. I'll try to do so tomorrow).

It's also a great place to make career contacts.

And they (we) hold a meeting every year at SIGGRAPH where members do presentations of their current projects.

Take a look.

okay:

Orangey Fat seems to me like he's destroying the city, causing a rucus blah blah gozzilla style, but it doesnt seem like he's tryna be a menace...you've done a beautiful job of portraying that to me (that was your intention right?)

i think that when u make them meet you should, play this up, how Orangey Fat is the 'villan without a cause" or without intent as the case may be...then we have our heartless hero here, shooting fucking everything that's remotely dangerous...

use your knowledge of fantastic camera angles to play up Orangey Fat's size when Synj and Orangey Fat interact, i'd love to see THAT!

hopefully that should help spark some begining of a brainstorm for you Synj, and maybe some of these other guys too.

GL...

hehe thanks, pak.

Yeah, the orangeyfat was definately supposed to be portrayed as an innocent monster in the city.

when koy and the orangeyfat meet, i have two options as far as camera angles go. I can make their size finally be realized as incredibly tiny, or make it look like a monster vs. monster godzilla fight. pretty much most of what I'm having trouble with is what will be in this room.

It's a hobbyist room, so i guess there's those little 6 packs of cheesy paint and things. But I've never been a hobbyist myself as far as painting models and stuff goes, so putting objects in this room is one of the biggest challenges. Once those are in I can play off of it.

hmm I feel like the orangyfat is innocent and Koy is just a dickweed killing them without reason. I hope Koy gets what's coming to him. I think it would be cool if they got into it in the city model

thanks guys

I use adobe imageready to make them, and the time definately varies. Anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes pretty much - depends how burnt out I am.

Synj,

create a filter so that all incoming mail from the list goes to a seperate folder, way easier to keep track of and you wont get personal mails mixed in.

as for the usefullness of the list it is huge. Back when I was starting out I put my reel online to the list and got calls from Bluesky, DreamQuest, Westwood studios, Oddworld, Mainframe..... anyway, it's definitly a great place for feedback, but be prepared as lots of them look very closely at character animation.. ie "looks cool but his foot when he hits the ground on his 8th step looks like it slides a little, might want to fix that" but anyway it's a great place to post your movies

damn. i think i spent to much time on the www.synj.net homepage. its just to easy to be influenced when you are a beginner..

ok, i dont know if its real synj style, hopefully not , but i got all the inspiration from the website. ok maybe not the motif.. and maybe not the technique (ok.. i learned some moves by watching his images, but thats all! i promise! )..

anyway im so proud of it that i want to show it

zthee: I don't really think it looks like my style. I really like the color theory in it!

dines: sorry, I forgot hehe it's imageready version 1.0. To be honest with you, i actually dislike the program - alot. It's like okay do you want size 1 or 3 brush, when I want size 2 dammit! haha (and i dont think you can make your own in 1.0)
