Hello, I've colored a pencil sketch that can be found at http://www.nytro.org/crap/pilot.jpg
This is a bit of a stretch for me because I normally ink my pictures before I color them, but I wanted to try something new, and I think it looks okay. What do you think?

*dies in shock*
Great pic, Mr. Antunes.
Just if you wanted a little criticism, the gun looks a little odd. To me, looks more like a rock than metal. That may just be a little lack in details on it.
Other than that, you are too amazing to comprehend.

Sc00p:
"Looks okay"? I think it looks freaking SWEET! The only areas that don't seem to blend in ever-so-slightly are the thigh areas. The lighter highlights seem like they're just kinda stuck on there. But all the highlights and everything else look fantastic!
I love that coloring style.. wish I could do it!! Nice work!

Thanks guys
Stoll: The gun looks funked because i shaded it poorly in the pencil sketch as you'll notice. This is why I usually color inks
g:tech: Ya, I get carried away with the gradient tool sometimes to the point where a color becomes flat. Mebbe I can still go in and fix that later (right now I'm sick of lookin at this one...as I did it in one sitting)

Really nice, I think the colouring compliments alot. Maybe there could be a more focused lightsource area, like coming off the binocular's? round his neck, more light onto his shoulder and face some more as they seem to be glowing. Great work scoop. |

"Bald people, more hair than brains"
Whoops, now I see he isn't bald, it's some kind of fire-resisting thingy...
Aarrgh! I'm dumb!

I think that his head is maybe to much stretched. Atleast I cant strech that much, maybe me thats sitting by the computer to much.
Everything else is LOVELY. =)

Nice pic Sc00p. Love the style. Reminds me of Alan Lee who draws WarLands for Image Comics. You did real good with your line seperation in your sketch. Usually the line seperation is done with the inking. So, with your style inking is not needed unless you wanted a really clean image. I like it the way it is though.

Thanks Chapel, this is so true that inking is cleaner. This was my first time coloring a pencil sketch. Coloring both (inked and pencil) is nice, but they each have their own charm. Definitely when I really want to get into a work though, I spend the time to ink the sketch, definitely.
Also, when you color over pencil, it's much, much easier, as the shading from the pencil lets you cut corners, because you don't have to color as much shading..just multiply over top of the original shading done in pencil, it's really cool
