One thing i've found useful for hair, is making a new layer, with your base color (black in your case) and with the air brush make a bit ugly blotchy form of where you want the hair to be. Then, take a 50% lighter color(mid grey in your case)and put a bunch of random strokes down the face from the hair to resemble "flow of hair". Then, repeate the process with 98% highlight (white color) now, smudge that whole layer, until it kinda blends out and you can not see any defined strainds. Now, repeat the process until you are satisfied.

*shrug* Hope it helps

Wow, duhroach, how'd you make the hair in the Koshi pic? You couldn't have used the same technique as you did for Angel and Elfgirl... It looks so much more real in Koshi... How'd you do that? |

Think in masses not in strands. Airbrush artists make this mistake, it tends to make the hair look like a pile of spagghetti. Think about shapes. The hair is a series of planes, either influenced by the shape of the skull, or based on the strands resilience and bounce, that is, curly hair forms its own plane structure, flat hair takes on the contour of the skull.
The neck is a little strange also. There is no separation between the front of the neck, often referred to as the pit of the neck, and the left shoulder. You need some overlapping of the neck over the left shoulder to differentiate what is what.
And my last comment would be that you isolated the ear with the hair, causing it to become a focal point, not to mention their is a great deal of detail in the ear already. Try covering one of the edges, preferrably the top edge, with hair, to show again, overlap. This will also help the ear look less pasted on. Also think about spending less time on all the planes in the ear, squint at you reference and see what shapes dissapear, or fade into other surrounding plane values. This will help the eye drift back to the beautiful face you have spent so much time working on. I have an image posted on the topic basics still rule just to let you know that I can speak credibly about this. Good luck and post the image again when you finish... |

oh yeah, look at Alberto Vargas as inspiration for this peice. Also look at Gil Elvgren. He was the best pin up artist alive. These two did hair extremely well. It will help to understand what I meant by working in masses versus strands. |

Fred said a lot, so I'm just going to say that her chest seems to be out too far. As if she's thrusting it out for the world to see. I don't know if that was the intention, but it looks a little un-natural.
But the pic does look fantastic, keep working on it!

Sorry. But I liked the hair better in February. I find that she looks prettier with shorter hair.
Her breasts look funny.. she has deep cleavage and yet she looks flat? |

Very Impressive Thor.. Although this is will say..
The neck looks a lil "too tough or too straight" for such a sweet girl, My guess is make ti more rounded at the back and It will improve the visuals
Other than that OMG nice! >O)
