What's the field you went through when you were to college?

I am soon supposed to choose that and I don't know what is the exact field...

(was this one for me?, if so:

I took a interdisciplinary art degree (fancy word for general art). Unfortunately I'm probably a bad example of what you should do for school if you want to get into the field. I kinda just wandered since I couldnt find any specific classes that taught what i wanted to learn (digital illustration and 3d animation)in my school.

I'm by no means a great judger of schools, since I've been drudging through my education quite slowly ... but we've got a killer 3D Animation program at SVA (School of Visual arts), definatly at least something to look into.

Doc; Awsome ... atleast you know I have good taste

I'm kicking myself in the ass right now though. I didn't get accepted into the 'computer art' program right off the bat ... so I entered in Graphic Design. I *KNOW* that I have a lot of potential (hey, having self asteam without anything to show for it is what being a young artist is all about, right? ehe..) in the field ... particularly 3D design and animation ... but switching majors is well, a major pain in the ass (no pun intended).

Ahwell...wish me luck, I deserve this. (Gonna have to take my word on that one)

Where is SVA located?

I was thinking of trying to get into AIS, The art institute of seattle, they have courses dedicaed to 3danimation and graphic design.

plus they lady that came and told us about it was hot! =P

What a coincidence, i didn'y get into the computer art department either. I didn't think i could make a living drawing. It was the best thing that could have happened in my case. I picked illustration instead of graphic design. I could have changed mayors but i decided to stay in illustration while taking a few computer classes. BTW SVA is New york city.

Doc; Woah, wierd. I'm still shooting for computer art though. If I was more interested in Illustration as a profession, or Graphic Design for that matter I'd consider sticking with it ... but when it comes down to it I really want to be an animator. I'd love to work in film, or games. Actually, in the long run, I'd love to do both

same here, Happy Meal, same here... graphics for video games, illustration like Dhab, or sfx for movies. I'm graduating this year over here in Vancouver, and I have no friggin' idea what to do in university. NO idea at all. Oh well, it'll work itself out. Oh, and if all that doesn't happen, I'm going to try robotics. <giggles insanely> a little army of robots to fulfill my every whim, and serve me as their lord and master! buahahahaha!
