Francis,

Great work! Especially around torso. The only gripe I could dig up about it would be the face seems so much brighter than any other part, and the lighting doesn't seem right for that. Unless, of course, this is what was intended.

Either way its a great piece!

very nice! i love the white face :P
it's hard to say where to draw the line with detail in such a pic, but i would probably go a little further and clean some things up, add/remove (dont ask what, some parts on the left art hard to make out). it's great tho.

Looks good Francis! But it looks a little more Gaussian than Faustian to me. I like the 50's-esque white-face shade, gives it mucho style!

eheh there is this nice Russian anecdote..

In prison cell with about 20 guys (russian prisons crowded) a new guy is added. Another guy comes out of the croud and says: "Im here for cannibalism!!!". Everyone runs.. hides around the cell! Except for the new guy who just stands there.
People ask him: "Why are you so calm?!"
New guy says: "I'm here for eating cannibals!"

HEHEHEHEHHEHE maybe i messed it up a little but it went SOMETHING like tha

Spooge -

Do you mean a highlight? Please excuse my ignorance. If you have the time, maybe you could place a bit of what you're talking about on the image. I'd really really dig it.

Thanks in advance
Francis

Craig,

Actually, that would be a nice thing to cover in a future 3dp lesson -- hard/soft shadows and how to make them. I haven't gotten to perfectly portrait in my mind how to draw those and I'd be interested in hearing about it from you.

Thanks!
frost.

I dig it Francis, really cool. Love the look of the costume. Probably is a bit too blurry tho, Maybe try sharpening it a touch... Great work man.

Hey Francis,

Try to make a sharp line where an edge is caused by a cast shadow and leave edges created by the turn of the form alone.

this took about 45 sec, please forgive, but I think you will see what i mean about cast as opposed to form shadows. I will be going over this in the 3dpalette column, eventually.

Aha! Looks much crisper, yet doesn't lose the texture. I look forward to that column.

Wow... nice image! Very moody. One thing though, what are all those (hardly-visible) squares doing all over the image? Is it the result of bilinear scaling or just a filter you applied on the pic?
