I also am working on a game =)
We are doing 3D render to 2D Format out put as well...
Rendering each frame..
We do this so we done have to Draw each frame..and 3D can have Close up shots and Zoom out shoots, Animation is more flex.

nono, what i meant is why 3Dsmax, when it could be done with maya, softimage, lightwave, etc etc as well?

Btw, I just finished all sprites for the orangeyfat shooter game I have been working on with baconfat. They were all done in lightwave, the download is about 2 meg. http://www.synj.net/files/shooter.zip should run on NT as well.

Screenshot here: http://www.synj.net/graphics/ss1.jpg

Just felt like sharing since that's where the thread seemed to be headed hehe.

There's pretty much zero character animation. I'm not sure if that's the type of gig synj wants.

Presto's use of the term animator is a little broader than the usual interpretation. In this case the position involves some (mechanical/object) animation, but also assembly and lighting of environments.

I'd take anything as well. Whether I had to move or not.
But I don't think they'd wanna relocate me from Australia.

hehe i am in cleveland, ohio... Man, california is probably the last place i'd wanna be. Paying like 10x the rate i'm used to for housing, insurance, etc...BLEH said me!

Okay I take that back. I'd move if the pay was significantly higher than anywhere else.

You'd rather live in Cleveland than California?! But we have state income tax!

As Drew Carey says, "Cleveland Rocks!"

Actually, I just moved back from CA to Columbus, OH., and I have to say, I missed Ohio while I was out there. Maybe it's that people care less about image, the fact that we actually have weather here, or less traffic, but Ohio ain't bad. :P

Hi

Some of you may have seen the notice at 3DPalette already, but we're looking for a few people - conceptual designers, texture artists and animators. Texture and animation artists need to be pretty good with 3DSMax. Go to the Presto Studios web page for more info.

The positions are for the sequel to a VERY high profile pre-rendered adventure game. I can't officially name the project just yet, but you can probably figure out what it is.

Thanks all
Francis

awe.. no fair! What's the deal with 3Ds max and pre-rendered games.. its not like it's gonna matter since it ends up as a 2D sprite either way.

Grumble.

Actually we used Formz/ElectricImage for a piece of it, but the mac people in our office are quickly becoming extinct.

Resistance is futile.

Thanks for the headsup Francis you'll hear from me soon.

Wow I'm surprised to see so many people from Ohio. I thought I was the only one! I live in Phoenix now, but I do love going home when I can. Cleveland does rock, damn I miss the flats.

WHOOOA.... I use MAX ! but i'm jist good at modeling and live far, far away. *sigh*

Softimage & Maya is expensive as hell. That's probably why most idp 3D artists don't use it, Synj.
