I just got one. Sometimes you have to press very hard for the highest pressure sensitivity.
Well, I read the PDF manual and it says the tip (called nib) will wear down. I'm scared I'll wear it down without noticing and then can't take it out to replace it. Anyone have such a problem?
Also, Is the only place to buy replacement tips at the wacom co.? I hate buying direct....
thnx in advance. (btw, this forum is PACKED=) |

I have a Wacom too, and with it I had a whole bunch of new nips, so check your box for that..
Also about the pressure, there is a control applet in "control pannel" that you can manully setup your pressure and tilt etc. - give it a try I think that is what your looking for.

I use my teeth to take it out, or your Mothers eye brow Hair Pull will do the trick.
Place a Tissue over the Tip befor pulling out the tip.
You can set the Pressure on Controll Panel->wacom

I just got me a 6x8 INTUOS WACOM !! WOOOHOOOOOOOOO! !! !
Although I feel like the last one to have bought the damn thing on the face of the planet, i now have the power within my grasp!
So what's the deal with the Wacom settings??
How can I get my paintbrushes to draw as smooth in photoshop 5.0 as they do in Painter Classic!? Do i enlarge the screen setting? the tablet setting? make the pressure lighter, softer...whats the Best Combo...Can anybody tell me what settings they use... Then i could give them a try to see what i'm comfortable with...because I'm confused!
gimme a reply !

My pen nibs are wearing down like mad. I have to press somewhat hard to get my lines dark enough, even on 100% opacity, and after each use that flat spot on the side of the nib just gets worse and worse... |

therefor I sketch as a little as possible in photoshop, and only uses paintbrush, so i dont need to press hard to to get a dark color, ( i only choose a dark color and voila)
I'v noticed that you have to press alot harder in Photoshop then in Painter, to get to the highest pressure sensitivity. Try sketching in Painter, it rocks. |

I'm sooo fucking sick of reading about wacom pens and tablets. When ever anybody gets a new one, they feel like they need to post on the board.

Maybe there really should be a separate forum for wacom discussions?
Oh, Tinusch, you might want to fiddle with the sensitivity settings in the Wacom control panel. |

Yeah, I suppose I should... But... I'm too lazy...
I can't believe I have to pay $20 for a new set of nibs... I keep a row of extras taped to the back of my pen holder. Heh. |

I dont know why you guys have such problems with wacom pen .. i just set the opacity of pen to about 26% .,and press on the "FIRM" pressure option right on the tablet bar ..and it works great for sketching .. if i want .. the line any darker i just chang it to "Soft" on the tablet bar .. |

B: I've tried a number of different objects in place of the Wacom nibs, but nothing worked. It sucks.
Shizo: Heh, I got my Wacom used from eBay. No spare nibs. Even if it did come with nibs, I'd go through them eventully, so sooner or later I'd have to order new ones... |

Didnt you get a few plastic tips in the little bag that came with tablet?
*makes a suspicious expression*
Or did you... WAREZ IT?!!! HEHEHEHHEHE
And about posts, i dont have anything against wacom posts, in fact a post like this one is very informative. But i'd say tyhey should be posted in Random Musings !!
Everyone who disagrees gets his head blown off by a good old Russian hunting rifle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(!)
BTW 'Digital Art ZForum' is flooded with POS litter like messages, i understand everyone wants to have his message read but wouldnt it be more wise to post it in Random?!! I KIL U OL

But Shizo, nobody reads the stupid messages in Random Musings because they're stupid (I assume they are, I don't read them). So if they want their stupid messages read, they have to post them here. Elementary logic my dear Molly... WHACK! (this is a Wacom thread after all!)

Tinusch, find some hard plastic and use a knife or razor to cut it.. then sand and polish the tip - VIOLA! HEHEHEHE
Or as B said (B is for Bum), use toothpicks! But those are wooden :o
