Hey guys,

I am teamin up on something with the very cool www.cloud10.org guy and I need a converter from lightwave to 3dsmax model stuff so we can import the models and/or animations into flash for the nav. Anybody know where i could download one of these tools? We have the 3Dsmax model to flash vector tool already, just need the LW to Max.

regards,

Check out Polytrans from Okino. It can convert various models from LW, MAX, Softimage and others. But if you want a plugin, search for Lwoimp.dli somewhere in the net.

You didn't know that Lightwave can export to 3ds without any third party software?

That will only help with models thou, not with animation. Animation would be a lot harder to do.

Anyway what you want is in Modeler under Tools/Custom/Translater 3D Export

Chow baby.

UView by Cinegraphics, Polytrans by Okino and
Interchange by Viewpoint are 'ok' converters,
but you still need to do a sh*tload of manual
tweaking and editing in max. A plain .3ds
output is normally the easy way out.

Converting is quite a pain in the ass

yes thank you for making me look even dumber.

the fact of the matter is, i just learn the bare necessities. I dont use max, or anything else, so knowing where the export is would be even stranger than not knowing where it is.

Does anyone know for a reason you 'must' triple polygons to convert a LWO to 3DS? Is it because 3DsMax won't support ploygons that has more than three vertices?! =0
Help!

Trance-R,

I'm pretty sure you just nailed it on the head, but then again i've never converted it. From what I've heard, yes, they must be tripled. Kinda sucks hehe you have this real low poly model then BAM

You shold ALREADY have a plug-in if you have LW5.6 or 5.5 or some thing like this..

But Yes in there!
its caleld Transplator-3DExport under TOOLS->CUSTOM

TIP: Flip the polygonds befor Exporting.
(Lightwave hotkey is F)

if you need to plug-in let me know
