You need to flatten all layers...

Then save as (and choose your format)

Hope that helps

You want to save your .PSD as a GIF or JPG?

File.. Save A Copy.. Choose your format.

There's no need to flatten your layers before hand.

Yes there is, if you don't flatten the image and do away with any extra channels, Photoshop won't let you save it as anything but a psd file.

wrong, 'save a copy' allows you to save it as a jpg without flattening. It flattens it when you save so anything you see get's converted into the jpg, if you have any hidden layer's they will be thrown out.

Actually, Humanclay's right... in you "File" menu, you should have "Save", "Save As", and "Save A Copy", as well as "Save For Web" (in V5.5)... anyways, if you use save, or save as, then you need to flatten layers before saving as JPG or GIF... if you use Save A Copy, then it automatically flattens the layers of the copy, but not of the image you're working on... and if you use Save For Web, it obviously sets it up with full optimization and allows you to use web palettes and so on, and it automatically converts it to either GIF or JPG, depending on the which one you select.

Hope that all made sense and helped out...
