EDITED: Due to excess bandwidth usage I'm taking the file down. It should be put on another server soon.

It's 5.5 megs or so, a little over three minutes in lenght. A trailer for a film Congregation Films has been working on longer than I care to remember. Most of the credit goes to a CF member, Kaj Syrjnen, since he's the one who composed the music, did the editing, the combustion and such effects and so on. I just did the voiceover and some 'matte painting' of sorts. Plus the lighting effects the gun flash makes when I shoot in the corridor.

It's in finnish, so don't expect to understand the speech. Just enjoy the visuals, if you can.

i don't see myself in the credits, not even for the visually and artistically extremely challenging camera work i did down there in the basement, before hitler's resurrection by satan from the biowaste bin. bitches! my own film group has betrayed me!

Thats quite good. What exactly were the matte paintings and where?

All in all, I'd say that wasn't half bad. I'd like it more if it had some of those cool camera/slo-mo effects that the Matrix had Just kidding.

heheh i LIKE the ak47 guy dying over and over. i don't know if that was meant to be humorous but i think that was one of my favorite parts. especially when he's running right to left and just kinda flies in the air

Matte paintings? Well, in the scene where the guard tower explodes, I edited the BG. It was a 3d model built on top of an edited still of the 'tower', and I took out the top part of the wooden cabing in Photoshop and reconstructed the forest in the background.I also added the lighting effects to my face and hand in the scene where I shoot off a bit in the corridor. (So to answer another question, that was me) In addition to that, I also painted out a comic strip we'd accidentally left on the wall in the bit where Hitler speaks raher vigorously.

None of the guns are real. They're just your average plastic toy guns that go 'rattattat' when you pull the trigger. Which is why we didn't pull the triggers. The muzzle flashes were added later in Lightwave by Kaj.

Anyway, keep in mind we are total amateurs at this... It's the first of our movies with CGI, and the equipment used isn't exactly top-of-the line... (All video is captured via a Hauppauge TV tuner card, and output through my video adapters TV-output...)

Oh,Faust, I never noticed you weren't in the credits... We also forgot Riikka, so...
Oh well, it's only a trailer.

She's not in the group per se. She's more of a guest star.

ya! So before anyone even thinks of posting a clip here, make sure it's in finnish!

I did download the vodeo, it looked good... Somewhat more original than ours, but then we do tend to conciously play with clichs a lot. It's fun.

The full film will, when it gets finished some day, be around half an hour long. The editing is just slow as hell with our resources.

I was impressed. I have friends who do digital video for a profession so I get to see all the behind-the-scenes stuff. A couple of good things..and a couple of not so good things. I really liked the muzzle flashes that were added as well as the detonation at the end of the tower. Bravo! As well as some of the more dynamic camera angles (bathroom stall scene and guy in gasmask)
Now for the not-so-good stuff. And I'm saying this not knowing if you have the capability to remedy this stuff. First and foremost was the lighting. The indoor scenes mostly..you can tell the lighting is a 60 watt bulb and it kind of casts a washed out yellow light across everything. Mess around with diffusing some spot lights through sheets. It gives a great ambient lighting without being too harsh. Secondly was the camera itself being wobbly. It isn't too hard to make a steady-cam that allows the cameraman to even run alongside the actors without screwing the video. I realize you guys have spent oodles of time on this project, and once again, bravo! I'm impressed!

One question though...are you going to pimp out Hitler in a robotic suit like the end of Wolfenstein did? hehehehe

Wow, Faust... you went and developed a sense of humour while I was gone.

Can't seem to view the film on this system. I'll try it tommorow at work. Sounds pretty cool, from the comments so far.

you somehow managed to make it pretty professional looking, nice photography and editing.. love the bit where you zoom and rotate towards a guy with a gasmask who shouts someting evil. how did you do that?

Interesting! I can believe you've been working on this for quite a while... (How long is the complete film?) Your voice acting, is, ah, err, suitable

Video is fun. If someone cares, here's a 2-minute clip I did last month:
http://www.saunalahti.fi/saffron/junk/koko-384.mov

It's 6 megs, so don't bother downloading it on modem or ISDN as it's not worth it. I made it all in two days and that shows... (I'm pretty sure someone will recognize what it's made for, others will have to wonder what the heck this is supposed to be )

Oh, and it's in Finnish too. I hereby declare Finnish the de facto official language of sijun.com forum videos.

Oh, I forgot to say that if you watch my clip, you might want to crank up your monitor brightness quite a bit since it's made for TV gamma... (you're supposed to barely see her face when she takes the hood off)

And I was in such a rush with the video that I completely forgot to credit the music. But better late than never: the song is "Carpet Muncher" by mu-ziq.

The editing (Which was not my doing) was done in After Effects.

Saltydog:

Thanks for the input! The thing is, our budgets are.. Well, we don't exactly have budgets. Basically we make movies with whatever we can find lying around. (When Ville got the camera, that was the biggest investment ever made in conjunction with our group. Or actually that started the group up.)

We had a 1000 KW halogen lamp (Got it for free, of course), but the bulb burned out. Need to get a new one. It's a bit extreme anyway. The bedsheet idea is interesting, we'll have to try that. And maybe look into making a steadycam. (Well, definitely.)

Uh-oh... I'm getting e-mail from Redrival saying I've exceeded the maximum bandwidth usage of 4 gigabytes per month. They say I've used up 17,5 GB.. I'm going to take the file down. Hopefully Faust will be able to upload it to his server.

It works.

That's really cool, btw. The muzzle flashes are great, for the most part (though there's a short section near the end where it looks like the guy's reloading, yet his gun's still flashing)

The explosion is terrific.

Nice job.
