Just curious,
what are all your favorite FPS(first person shooter)? I like Unreal Tournament more than Quake III. I haven't really mastered Quake III. Hmmm...nowadays it's really just a tossup between these two. Any others. Auuh hell just tell me your favorite games! NOBODY SAY PONG!!!

Counter-Strike, Quake III (sometimes), and sometimes Rocket arena for q3.
I already know I will like TF2 also |

Ian: Me love Deus Ex! IMO it even equals Half-Life. So well, my favourite FPS are:
Half-Life
Deus Ex
Counter-Strike
And bah to Q3, that game is so mindless it almost hurts!

Quake 3.
I've been playing it every day since the first pre-alphas a year ago and I'm always learning something new.

First comes Doom, then Duke for me. I still play doom.. even the GL accelerated ones on the net.. hell, I went to a Doom LAN a few weeks ago.. nothing beats Doom, nothing!
Any thoughts on DoomIII btw? Might suck.. might not. The technology ought to be beyond anything else though.. considering Carmack says you definately wont be able to run it on any recent accelerators/cpu's.. that guy is just to good at coding. I'm surprised he's not bored with video games yet..

My all time favorite would have to be Outlaws. Tribes would be second. Quake(s) and Unreal would be third. S.O.F. and Half-life fourth. |

first:
Half-Life. Sweet cake-y green stuff flying everywhere when you shoot them creatures. Sweet cake-y green stuff when you shoot them humans
second:
Unreal Tournament. Very intense, very glowy and shiny. I prefer sniping over blasting though.
Ya ya.. i just started on the Deus Ex demo. So far, it seems almost real, being able to hide in the shadows and whatnot.. I don't consider it a full FPS though.. there's too many other things like roleplaying to consider to make it entirely FPS.

Tribes all the way! For all your team play goodness... I like the outdoor levels rather than running through tight, narrow corridors. To me, the wide open levels introduce far more skill (leading, flying, ski jumping) than who has the fastest reflexes. CS is pretty cool too. |

Deus Ex is... almost too much to take. I still hate the way you can just pick up an expermiental weapon which no-one has seen before and use it...
Half-Life is... The best Quake Engined Blast ever. Headcrabs are still beating Facehuggers in the "scariest f*****s in any game" pole.
Halo will be... The best game ever to grace the PC, Mac or X-Box... Deus Ex... Your days are numbered... |

On the PC i like Half life and I liked Counter Strike for the whole for days it actually worked for me.
But the N64 has Goldeneye and Perfect Dark (Praise the lord!) which are both storming games!

for me it has to be:
doom 2
i still play it quite often.
half-life
only because i enjoy killing the scientists and the barneys. its become sort of an obsession with me, i make maps just for the purpose of killing them. i like making underwater maps and watching them drown, is that sick?
deus ex
ut
and last opengl quake |

Sick? HA! I used to make Q2 maps galore with monsters spawning above lava and water pits.
I loved those screams when they hit an environmental hazard. Bounce them just right with a shotgun blast from above and they fly in the purposeless lava pool. "Yaoooooh!"
Sick sick.
Actually, besides Wolfenstein, any id FPS is great by me. Half-Life was.. the mothabizombingslizappingshiznit. Multiplayer laggy, but the single player.. It gave the gamer inside me the biggest mahogany ever.
Any of the Turoks. Not the stupid ports mind you. And none of the stupid Gameboy versions. The N64 versions... :]~~~~~

I'm sorry but I don't play anymore... I was addicted and when I broke up with my boyfriend this summer I stopped playing almost all computer games... Everquest included (aka Evercrack). But when I did play..
-Unreal Tournament
-SOF
-QIII
-Tribes
I only played on a LAN and most of the time as CTF...

Quake 3 at the moment. I used to play UT aswell, but it doesnt do much anymore. quake 3 has a Q-munity and is evergrowing, plus is just more fun .
on a side note: im gonna be working on a MOD for Q3 that will be based on a very unknown game called "Rocket Jockey". For those of you that just said, "rockety wha?..." ill explain it a bit.
-----In Rocket Jockey, you are a insane little bastard on a rocket flying at high speeds in a arena filled with traps and poles and walls with other insane little bastards! your rocket has very minimal control going so fast, so you have to fire off different types of grappiling hooks and hook on to anything you can(even someone elses bike or ass) and swing yourself around. the point is to kick the shit out of the other riders and beat the up untill they cant ride anymore! there are bombs and grapples, and mines, and claws, and shrinker line, and tripline, and pop-up walls, and all kinds of things to keep you on your toes. it is a very original game and is executed very ass-kickitilly!!!
Rocket Jockey is very very very cool and addictive. go download the demo of it or find it in a store, and then search the net for the Networkpatch so u can play online!
wow, i can type a lot! weeeee!!!!!

Doom2 scared the living daylight out of me a few times. Playing in pitch black with kickass full surround earphones in the dead of night helped greatly :>>
You walk in a well open area.. all's quiet... too quiet... you tiptoe further... nothing.
*standing in the middle of the arena* "Well that wasn't too bad ! I think I'm getting a little parano.."
-"BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHH!"
*falls off from chair*
yep, Cyberdemon on a rising platform... Say Hello to the rockets
ege who's gonna dig her doom2 cd and proceed fight off animated pixel foes.. |

QuakeIII seems to be more dynamic one when you're playing over the network.
Half-Life is especially good when you play in single mode |

hmm,
I'd rate my favorites in how much of that "oh my god this is a game!?!?" feeling they gave me at the time
Doom - still have the shareware disc in my drawer, and that first time you press the forward arrow and the whole screen moved, who here was not floored!!
Thief: The Dark Project - the only game that made standing still in the dark the most exciting thing EVER!
Half life - all games after doom were the same, save Thief, and Half life, well Half life was the first time I was amazed by moving the mouse (and seeing the other side of the intro tram)
and now,
Deus Ex - for truly giving a story which has surpassed all others in making you feel like you can change the world (game world) the ultimate game of choices
out of those, I'd have to say Doom and Half life, will remain installed the longest, mostly cus of mods, and amazing design |
