I've had an A4 wacom intuos a my disposal for a few monthes now but ive never really tried the more traditional digital painting method with it.
Generally I just do some comic art and use the inks as the base layer and use muliplay/ dodge layer combos for colouring over the top .
I'm trying just starting from scratch wih the wacom and making it a more traditional painting style.
I'm trying to do things my own way rather than pure clean work.
How am I doing?

Coooool. Nice colors and lighting. It wouldn't hurt to make the red lighting on the head a bit more gradual as it fades into the non-lit section, but overall the pic is looking really good. Nice detail on the pipes/wires/machinery. |

try this r0r,
put down the base colors, paying special attention to areas of light and rak aswell as form, just as if u boosted up the cotrast level of a painting and see just the raw values and the shape. Then work in the colors gradually, building 'layers' of color. it takes alot longer but it give paintings that fullness and body that the selection/fill technique just doesnt provide. |

Your technical skill in doing texture and lighting are great, but I'd recommend working on the perspective and proportion a little more first.
The benefits of pre-painting planning are incredible!
Something I learned from Mr. Mullins(or rather, thought up years ago, and finally saw that somebody else does it too, and that it works great) is to create a real basic 3d Model(or use a pre-existing one) and get all of the positioning and lighting really roughly where you want them. This will sort of help you with the perspective/proportion bit.
Not that I should talk, because I think that you are more than a little bit better than me...

The revised pic looks really cool.
Can't say that it needs any more work - only one thing that bugged me was that the eagle and the V shape are centered, but his head is slightly to the left...
Maybe you wanted it like that though, I don't know!
Great work, look forward to seeing future stuff... |

Looks really good, the only thing that looks a bit strange is the perspective, you could loose a small part of the head (top left) and make it a bit more round perhaps?
I think you're doing great as a new techinique, keep it up ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/biggrin.gif) |

Hi Rorshach, I think that is an excellent pic, but there was something I preferred about the previous version, the cold colours maybe, seems to have more mood. Maybe its got too bright?

Cos: yeah i know what you mean, i ended up doing 2 versions, im embedding the clean colourfull one here, the other one is on the headhunters3 page..
http://tarot.telefragged.com/hh3 for the dirty version.
I'll try something more subtle next time, this one was a quik experiment about 6-8 hours in all.
thanks for the input.
