I seem to be the person this forum loves to flame but i am trying so heres a real pic i tried to make any ideas (besides grab a match)??

hey, i'd say for you being 11 years old that's pretty good...
now that you've learned the airbrush-tool, i'd say go for dodge and burrrn and shade your picture !
just play with it (tip: ALT+click to toggle dodge/burn)..

well, the whole face seems to be slanted where as the ear is completely up right. the eyes and nose dont have depth at all. instead of shading around the contours of the head, consentrate on how the light falls on all the features of the face (look in the mirror). eyes usually arn't that slanted and people usually arnt yellow

it's a nice start.

Well, the proportions are a bit off... But besides that, the only thing I notice is that the shading is blotchy. To fix that, just use a bigger brush, and keep it on a lower opacity. Shade the areas lightly and evenly, and just keep working them over until they're as dark as you need them to be. The shading will look much smoother if you do it that way. Hope this helps.

And Ex, both your images have their high points and their low points. They're your first images, from what I understand, so naturally there's going to be a long period of learning and improving. Don't start comparing just yet, as there's still a long road ahead for both of you. Just focus on your own skills and techniques. Don't try to compete, just try your best for now.

ex, you're throwing up post after post, most of which is just bullshit/useless babble.. not to mention you already started a thread with that same picture. this isn't a battle ground, no one is going to tell you which picture is better. beauty is in the eye of the beholder, no? yes.
