Hey Danny,
In your stage images for that pic, you have on your ftp. Is that big white blob to remind you where your light source is?

Just curious since I often put a little pencil scribble on my sketchs to remind me of that as well.

Amnesia,

the white blob, no it isn't a lightsource indicator. Funny how loads of people seem to think that's what it's for..
It's actually a little pool of 100% white (255,255,255). As I've desribed in earlier threads about mixing/choosing colours, I very frequently pick the colours I need off from the canvas. I find it faster, more intuitive and more natural than going to the colour mixer every time I need a diffirent colour. As I was painting this image on a black background, I found that for the highlight areas I wanted to be absolutely sure that I would be painting with pure white so that the image would cover the maximum brightness range. So I blobbed in that white patch. That way I could pick the white with a single press of a button during the painting. I often leave coloured patches flying around on the canvas during work...

Danny,

wow! im impressed yer first image is now my background br0 :P

i was watching a film about cinimatic lighting, and one of the lighting directors said 'if color film was discovered about 20 years later then it was, directors and movie makers wuld have been much more sensitive to light and form" do u think the same ideas can said about digital painting? that seems to be what u were practicing here right?

Since people started posting their first Wacom images, here's mine (done 1.5 half years ago). I used Grafx2 for it.
