awww how cute don't you just wanna hug him
Took about 4 hours. I used a pic from some photo mag as a reference. Not sure if I should add more detail or not.
Please lots of criticism and tips and remember to have fun ripping it to pieces ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

You're so right, above!
Anyway:
Nice values, the eyes work fine IMHO. But, it still looks a little bit unfinished to me. I'd just make an extra layer, flip the image for testpurposes and go over it - the nose and the hair might need some work - I'd start there.
The lower lip's also a little bit to glossy.
Colors are fine! Maybe you want to put some extra color in the hair, to give it more life.
The face overall seems dominated by the shadow - maybe it would help if you work on that too.
I hope I didn't point out irrelevant stuff & am curious to see the next version ...

I like it. It has a watercoloresque look to it. It reminds me of a pic I have of a couple of kids. I kept it because they were just too damn adorable.
Here's my constructive criticism:
Keep working the details a bit more, to better define the hair, features and edges. For the face, some defining shadow lines and highlights should do the trick. For the hair, add some texture and more definition, like blades of hair hanging down, etc. The hair you have hanging down his face seem too blobby (is that a word?).

You must add sincerity and love. Remember, a good chips ahoy, is a chewy one. The chewy people only contain what is true art. Of course I am metaphorically speaking in the true sense of the word. The world contains those who think in one word meanings and those of us who understand others at one level above the primates. Social darwanism at its finest. If you dont understand you will, someday. |

THANKS! Xcal and Loki
Those were the exact replies I was looking for, and these are the post/replies this forum should be all about. I will be sure to work on the tips both of you gave me. Seeing that you guys are great artist, I'm sure it will help the picture out. And I'll post an updated version tomorrow(maybe?). Thanks for both of your replies and after reading all that flame crap it just reminds me of why I come and I'm sure why others come to this board. Another question is how do you go about detailing/cleaning up/adding texture to the image, because so far I've been trying to use all paintbrush, but it has only giving me the overall feel of the image and not the cleansliness (hope this is making sense). Well my question would be should I continue with paintbrush and use smaller brushes and spend more time on it or try the airbrush out, or some other tool in photoshop?
Well, that's enough for now...

i think you should create it the way you want instead of ask other people to do it for you, mr. artist. and you should take my compliments while they're there or i will call you mean nasty names and make you whine like the rest of these i'mnotsayings.

My opinion, airbrush and paintbrush don't mix, especially since you've completed so much of the image with paintbrush. My suggestion would be to continue with the paintbrush, with smaller brushes to add details. Then blend the details with smudge and blur tools, to keep the look consistent.
