Don't waste your time with the Nat pic. It will most likely line up just as well. I simply worked similar to the way pak-rat used to, and tried getting lines as close to the original pic as possible, not that that will be believed. So I'll shut up.

I suppose It'd be best for me to leave, and that creating one-hundred percent original pics won't help. So off I go.

Theres a problem, even in saying that... there are talented artists that are capable of such super-realism. But, I made no changes in resolution or scale in either image. The source image comes directly from the actors website. even the most accurate legitimate reproduction would not match the scale of the source material with such precision.

IO is right, the pics line up absolutely seamlessly. There is no way it's authentic.

Threnody, lay off of the "i'm such a nice little boy, I guess I'll just leave because no one loves me anymore" act. It's obvious, be a man and live up to it.

Well, sorry to say, it's indeed an overpaint. The hair even has some of the original jpeg artifacts that have been partially painted over..! That's pretty sloppy.

But it's not really the overpainting that made this affair annoying, it's this guy's crooked attitude - after he was exposed he put on a lengthy "Oh, these awful accusations, my career could be hurt by these nasty rumors" act. Why couldn't he just say "ok, they're overpaints, I'm just trying to learn some basic technique". But I guess he's not really interested in learning anything at all

Ok...I would just like to make a public statement.

It seems as though I am too gullible to the artists of the world. I usually believe what people say, because, well, after I talk with people, I get a judge of their personalities. However, this time, my trust was put into the wrong side of the equation. After examining the original with the actual, yes, I see the jpg artifacts. And for this I would like to apologize to Mongoose. Mongoose, man, I'm really sorry about fighting with you about this. However, I had been talking to Thren for a while in #digitalart, and I thought his character was a trustworthy one. I was deceived. Oh well. So, please forgive me for my actions. I guess I won't be as trustworthy in the future as I have been in the past.

That is all.

Alright, mongoose.

First of all, I made that generalization because I have heard you did this before (to a hockey picture, or something of that nature). I also said "not everyone uses JUST airbrushing for a pic" because in your post with the zoomed-in image, you said "That is not airbrushing." Now, I think I may have read that the wrong way. I'm sorry if I offended you or anything. Yes, I know, it sounded like a flame, but I was just trying to defend Thren because he such a talented artist.

Hm... I'll have a look in my 500mb Natalie Portman pic folder, see if I can dig up some more proof. Pic didn't look familiar though...

For future reference, I suggest you check the logged IP of Threnody, Dhabih.

I believe he was here one before and tried to pass of a pic of a hockey goalie as well. It was also not authentic.

I am sure they are to same two people.. check the IPs

Ah... Hm, just to throw in some extra proof, the portman pic has some contrast problems: The blacks are a bit vague, and that would suggest an uncorrected scan.

The moment I saw the pics, I said to myself: "these are overpaints". But wouldn't it be terrible if they weren't, if somehow this guys unique individual technique lent itself to producing an "overpainting" like quality! Ahh, but I doubt it

He should burn in hell-fire for this!!!

First time, than i saw the nat pic in the beginning of this post i've lost my jaw =).
But in the next few days i've found it. Mon, you're our N1 hardcore gfx fighter ;). And nice work Saffron.

I've found strange a little than Thren said:

"I flatten layers often, my comp has been crashing frequently, and I've had crashes in the middle of PS work frequently"

...dude, how you can work on this garbage? What a fun should it be?

I think that it's ok to using reference, but it's not a big deal doing overpaints and call it as original stuff. I myself have done enough photo over/under paints just for fun and i told to other dudez "hey guys, do you saw how i pasted this UFO filled with small green dudez onto this cityscape photo :) ? Or how i've removed clothes from this girl (hehe just kiddin' =)". Please, respect other people.

And a little question to orOme:
How did you draw 'trapped' pic at the gfxzone? Do you use references?

/Leo

leo:

heh......trapped is a rather old picture, so yes there was reference use there for the girl(scanned pencil drawing), but i had to apply my own lighting and colouring to make it all fit together. I think reference use is much more interesting that way, and not just doin straight redraws of an image, Though nowadays i prefer to use as little referece as possible.

Hmm, this is lowlife.

My god, first thing, why the hell copy a good photo as hard as possible to get something a bit worse in phshop.
But, this is little boy just tries to get fame by only drag and drop the photo into pshop and then just fuck it up a bit....
Baaad ! This forum has become better and better, with nice contributions, these pictures don't belong here !

Just curious, where is this controversial Hockey pic I've heard so much about? I checked all the posts on this board, and I didn't see it. Did I overlook it, or is it not here anymore?

That was WAY back in the beginning... It probably got deleted when the board was down for a bit, if not earlier.

Yah, very WAY back. Probably in the first week or two that this board went up. You'll have to change your viewing setting from 'last 30 days' to 'show all posts' or something like that.

Oh, I'm not sure. I thought just some random posts were deleted, not nessessarily (sp?) the older ones.
And I just thought some random accounts were corrupted (mine included )

Ah well. Who knows?

None of the posts get deleted... The board only shows you posts from the past 30 days. You can go all the way back to the beginning of the board by choosing "Show all posts" from the drop-down menu at the top of the page.

Also, about the hockey guy, his names were ALEN and PAROKEET. I don't think he has any connection to this guy. Oh, and I later found out that the hockey guy was drawn in crayons, scanned and colored again in PS. I saw some early stages of the pic, and then I felt bad for accusing him. I never saw the original pic of the hockey player, though, so who knows...
The pics are taken off the server right now, so I can't link to him.
His address was http://www.jedinights.com/jedi/
