Hey Ex, it looks good. However, he seems very short, and his forearms are way longer than his upper arms.
proportion/pose example
I hope this helps a little. Try studying the human body and practicing drawing, you'll only get better at it by doing so.

I'll keep in line with Frost's modesty and just say that if there ever was an improvement to another's drawing on this forum, that is it.

By the way, I really didn't mean to be an asshole by doing that. I just had time to myself yesterday night and I guess I liked ex's sketch, so I just kept on working on it...
Pete, I guess it didn't seem very modest now did it? Sorry.
Ex, feel free paint over that picture if you like or use it as some kind of reference (although don't take it as the 'extreme and perfect' image - it's got tons-o-flaws.

I wouldnt consider Frosts image a mocking of exs. Its just a really nice way to give some good advice. Sweet .

I agree, i think it was very nice of Frost to do that. Craig does it all the time, and everyone is like "yay!", so I don't see why this should be any different.
I'd love it if someone with as much talent as Frost repainted one of my pictures.
Great work, Frost.

Well Frost.. you posted the pic.. why don't you post the psd file so he/we can download it and learn from that also.
Its cool that you amped up his pic, but try and let him work it a little more before posting your version of the complete pic. Don't get me wrong I think its a neat way to learn... but I'd be kinda ticked if say spooge demon (art god for you newbies) posted his version of my pics. (cause I know it will be years till I'm close to his level) Plus, we don't really know what ex is capable of yet.
Just my opinion.

Chapel. You're right. I just got carried away, spent 5 minutes drawing up a fixed skeleton, then 10 more on some skin, then some more for lighting, etc.
Whatever. It won't happen again - besides, it's not like it's a hot-ass pic.
My crummy apologies.

i don't see but slight resemblences with the two images,. anyone can redraw anything that i've drawn or ever will draw, as long as they let me see it,. i see it as a way to help my performance, frost is indeed a goood artist and i like his image, though i didn't interpret the original image the same,.
yea theres a stick with a head and a light,..
but i interpreted the original image as a Jawa shaman,. i had this detail scene in my head, maybe i'll draw it for ya,. someday... |

Oh no way Frost I wasn't insulting you at all, I was just in awe of your rendition of his sketch.
Sorry if it seemed I was ripping you or anything

Frost's rendition is awesome. I don't think it's an insult to ex, it's more like a visual aid, helping ex to revisualize the image to strive for a slightly different outcome. |

I'm sorry i couldent get on yesterday.
Frost... Thanks a lot for doing that...
It helped me a lot on what to do for the lighting and stuff.
I am not capable of much cause i just got ps a little while ago and this is my first image (unfinished) using a mouse....
I just wanna talk to you about how you know where the lighting goes and how you are so good at that!

Ex, I would highly recommend you decide what is more important for you...either learning photoshop or learning to draw. It's really hard to try and learn both at the same time. From what you say I gather you are more interested in photoshop right?
Well, a good thing to do just to learn all the tools and get used to photoshop is to find a photo, trace the outline, and then try colour it. That way, you have a reference to use for colour, lighting, shading and all of that stuff, and you don't have to worry about the drawing part.
Right now, I think you're trying to do to much at once. Just slow down...if you want take a look at my first digital image. http://www.3dpalette.com/features/badass/
I wrote up a tutorial aswell which you can see there. I think it will be helpful.

In order to be good at PS ... and if you wanna make anything somewhat good you need to be able to draw... i dont understand what i could do to make it any easier though. It would be a lot easier to chat about this instead of going back and fourth on a forum... and plus i think you might have a good point.
