Im gonna buy a graphics tablet, the Wacom 12x12(or 9x12) but Im not sure wether to get the USB or serial version. USB costs about 40$ more. I
talked to two people, and ended up with two different opinions. One person who actually used USB and serial boards said that there is a difference
noticable in the speed of the update of the line on the PC, while the other, the person at my computer store said there is absolutely no difference
between USB and serial. Do either of you have any personal experiences and can help me? I don't want to waste the 40$, but if it does make a difference....

I have a 12x12 USB tablet ... and it works great ... to my knowledge, the USB port is faster than the serial ... (i haven't experienced these things with the tablet..) but i have a USB keyboard.. and sometimes it acts a little weird ... seems that some input devices don't like USB ... but i've had no problems with my tablet ... besides ... if you have mac drivers with the usb, you can use it on the mac... and ... the usb one doesn't require a power supply (er.. don't the serial ones?)

... bk.

I use a 9x12 wacom at work and a 4x6 (4x5?) at home - I've found that the smaller one is actually a little quicker to use. Less travel distance, you know?

francis, i definatly agree with you.. although the smaller ones do have disadvantages.. they also have advantages. Although i do have a 4x5 myself, i would definatly like a 6x8.

I don't give anything for the MAC connection, the only question is wether it is really faster. The size is also pretty much fixed. The only important thing is really wether there is a noticable difference in the input speed.

speaking of Wacom tablets, the unthinkable has happened.... my pen disappeared. Not only is it a bitch to even FIND one, it's freakin' HELL to find a place that has it and doesn't sh*t on your wallet, so to speak. I'm just a tad irate... bloody hell.
