I wondered how many people here have drawn almost from birth; Whether it be little scribbles with crayons, or actually having your parents buy you a "sketchbook" and a ballpoint pen to carry around when you were a baby? I know some people start drawing from a very early age (myself included) and was wondering how many of those people are on this board... I'll scan a couple of little pics from when I was 2 and 3 years old and post them when I get the chance...hehe...Anyone have anything else to contribute? Early pics would be a kind of fun thread...

Well, sure, I scribbled a little when I was little, but from what I heard, I wasn't all that enthusiastic about it. Apparently I refused to draw with anything else than markers.

I've been drawing ever since I could hold a crayon in my hand! I've always tried to draw realisticly and stiil am. My dads an architect and my mom was going to go to college for art. My brother animates, so I'd say I have it in my genes. Next time I go home I'll get some old pics of mine to scan in. Its amazing how many people in college are studying to be studio art majors and have never drawn in there life!
Check out my website to see the kinda stuff I did in HS. Its amazing what I'm paying hard earned money for. I had to watch a professor stretch canvas for painting class today. My sophmore art teacher in HS explained it 10 times better and that was a free lesson.

I always drew dinosaurs, dragons, and people shooting each other. Yeah, wierd combo, I know...I was always obsessed with guns and motorcycles, even from a very early age and was often disciplined by my religious-zealot parents for watching television that contained the both of them. =P As for the dinosaurs...I always drew them eating or killing each other or people. =P

I've also been drawing forever. I used to draw lots of demons, dragons, and all sorts of other evil things. Lots of blood. Lots of gore. I don't remember a point where I wasn't drawing something, even if it was on the inside of a book or on a desk or anything.
Does anyone else have trouble understanding when people say "this is my first drawing"? Like the post ex did about it being his first drawing. That's inconceivable to me. This is in no way a personal attack, of course. I just mean that it seems strange to me that he could go 13 years without drawing anything.

Only really started when I was about 11-12 (when I was young and foolish, wait thats not that long ago, oh dear).
All of my early drawings really sucked before then and I just couldnt really care. But now I do care, I just dont know why.
I used to watch loads of violent cartoons so that might have inspired me to draw. Im not sure though.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES!!!!!
That's all I ever drew when I was about 5 or 6 years old. I remember those days so fondly. I'd draw these huge battles where the turtles were fighting all these foot soldiers and shredder would be there. And I'd draw the blimp and the turtle van and all this stuff flying everywhere. In the end it's just get so crowded it'd look like a mess. But it was fun, I'd make sound effects as I drew, anyone else do that?? Haha!
Oh and I agree with Buttle. I doubt that was his first drawing ever. I'm not bashing him, I'm just saying it's silly to say things like that because EVERYONE has picked up a pen/marker/pencil/crayon and drawn when they were young. Heck, drawing is part of kindergarten! |

I have drawn since i was like 1-2 years and old enough to hold a crayon
When I was like 4-6 i drew the Turtles too
At 10-12 I drew some cartoon-ish characters, but it is in the last year, maybe two last years, that i have started doing more "serious" drawings, even if it's comic-style figures mostly. I have never really drawn any sketchy lines in my drawings, my pencil just floats, if you get what im saying. I can't even get sketchy lines when i'm trying
Also, in the last year, i have become interested in web design and other graphical design.

Well jeez, I'm just starting out here.... I'm 15 and don't really have a past in art... Any kind of art really... I've been inspired by a few things here and there and would really like to start pursuing digital art. I guess I'm just looking for some words of encouragement.

I've always loved to draw and sculpting with clay and such like. Guess it started when i was 2 or 3 years old. I started to like comics and superheroes so i started to create my own. I still have the first comic that i created when i was 6. My father has always been a inspiration too.(he painted and drawed himself)He had this anime style(he's from Japan)in his drawings.I grew up with Japanese comics wich i loved to look at, but could'nt read My grandfather was also a painter, so i never had any problems with getting any art materials like paint, pens and paper.I also got into Grafitti in an early age. The first computer i got was when i was 15 An Amiga 500. After that
i've been doing graphics, but still doing
traditional stuff at the same time.
I think that these influences still
reflects in the stuff i'm doing now.

Hmmm.. my mom had tried to get me to draw when I was 2 or 3 or something, ie. she had gotten me crayons and pens etc. I never wanted to draw; I only ate the crayons and threw the pens at her. ( I was never an easy child ). Someday I just wanted to draw. I had marched up to my mom and announced that I wanted to draw a skull.
As a kid I always drew malformed monsters. I was somewhat fixated on that subject all my childhood.
