Ok. I've been pretty inspired by some of the painters here so I spent some time this afternoon to try the technique.

The pic sucks and aside from the slight anime influence and the ear being incomplete, could you give me some pointers in the way of colour, technique (painting technique) and lighting?

Before I start, your a better digital painter then I am just by looking at this, however in Illustration and traditional Painting I know a thing or two which applies the same.

First off it seems that your light source is coming from the side and back. Id try to keep it more simple starting off, a single light source would be easier.

As far as skin tones go, remember where skin is thicker and thinner, where its thinner its going to be a little paler. Places like the chin, upper lip, most of the forhead will be a little darker. Cheeks, nose would be a little lighter.

Also in shading, theres going to be a core of dark, where theres reflected light on the edge of the object.

I havnt really seen much of your other work (hey, im new here!) but work on the anatomy.. gawd i cant wait to get a tablet. Hasta, hope this helps *somewhat*
