I can't seem to find my own style... First I tried to paint as realistic as possible, then I started doing grafitti and now I'm trying manga style.
Since I don't know if there are special ways to paint manga style, i'm asking you guys
I made this one a week ago, can't make it look... manga-ish, need help here

Thanx
Jeff

Ok a little constructive criticism My roommate and I looked at your drawing. The dark line on the right side of the nostril is to distracting. Second, the line that makes the other nostril is to long. Looks good though.

it looks good, manga is usually a bit less detailed in terms of coloring, shading, highlights, etc. i'd show you my work if i could draw =) but i watch a lotta anime and look at mangas (cant read japanese ) but... the actual drawing part is very nice and it looks almost like an anime called Lain licensed by Pioneer... |

errr
manga= chinese (i think) for comic (books)
its got symbolized with the asian'ish style of drawing.. (big eyes, spikey hair, sharp chins - ya know dragonball :P) otherwise known as anime.
So thats what the "style" is

Lain rules! Notice how computer-related it is! Instead of episodes they use 'Layers' and the 'be' in 'To be continued' is written exactly like BeOS. In Layer 1, the teacher was writing something on the blackboard, and enclosed every line in C++'s printf(); function. Really cool
Nice drawing BTW, but like elemental said, Manga style drawing hardly ever use shading (the only indicate shadows by coloring plains).

Tweek, I suggest you take a look at http://www.animeextreme.com/julie/generalface.html
great tutorial for learning how to draw general anime faces.
Anime/manga has alot of different styles, a few is the cutish Kawaii style, (Kawaii = ultra cute) which you can see here http://www.emikogenesis.com
then we have the realistic style, where the characters almost look real, with some exceptions. (Ghost in a shell) There is also baby manga, where the characters looks like babies
very simple drawing method on this one.
Darkmoon you wanna continue? |

And one more comment...
The mouth is at a sad medium...meaning in manga there is a lot of extremes...either you have a big exquisite pair of smackers like on Fallen's or a basic line...
