A bit small... But from what I can see, you've got some nice texturing techniques there. Put them to use on a nice big pic. I'd love to see what you can do.

BTW, the trees/weeds look great.

Interesting topic for an abstraction! I hope you don't mind too much, but here's a quick overpainting job I did on your image:

Sorry, my version sucks and I should have asked your permission, but there was something about your image that made me want to do this...

birds. add birds. nor not necessarily birds, but something odd nevertheless.

i made a abstract waterfall too.

speed drawing re-visited, took about 10-15 minutes. the coloring stinks.

oh yeah, the thing in the bottom/center in it, 's a thing i made a while ago, except it's a fast re-creation, not a copy/paste. (making things straight in case someone's seen the original one). just felt like it'd look neato-ish in it.

fah.

the burn/dodge tool, and about... hmm. a total of 3 strokes with the smudge tool as well.

drew it black/white on the bg layer, then added a color layer.

done.

sub 15 minutes, even.

(agh, wait, the thingie in the center was drawn on a separate layer, then blended with the main image.)

man wacom |less

shit happens, i'm not an artist.

you could also try your luck with the mouse.. it can be done, i can demonstrate if needed

although with mouse, these kind of forms and the creation process relies more on teh smudge tool, than on brushes/burndodge.
