Hmm, I guess you guys must start to get bored with all those portraits me and Mikael are posting But, I feel I learn allot from doing it.
Anyway, this is a quick selfportrait I did in Phshop, mostly to do some color research. Hope you like it, and comment as you'd like...

it's the dark outlines on 'em.also, the nose highlight is too bright.

damnit i want to post a portrait too!

eh....... don't regard it as a actual piece. i was just testing stuff when i noticed the thread. i think i spent a whole 6 minutes on it.

i think the highlight on the nose is fine, but i do agree that you should make the arms just a little more defined. but not to much

looks really good

Faust, man I like that a lot, very cool, I like the imagination. Looks like you've swallowed a face hugger hehe.

Great work!

Man, you guys rock!!
(I'm gonna cry now) =(

Actually Joachim, you kind of remind me of Max Payne (http://www.maxpayne.com)... =) (oh, and the artist who does the strips there rocks a hell of a lot too)

frost.

Joachim is the man! Very photogenic He's making all the rest of us look like newbies

Love the way you don't use only one color for the skin. Like Acryl once told me, there is blood and veins under the skin, it must show somehow.

It's great to see neato posts like this! Very inspiring. Hope to post something of my own soon.. Frost here is giving pointers all the time I am very grateful!

Damn! Very very good! I can only paint like that with my oil paints. Don't even know how to start in pshop. i think I'll take some pictures of my paintings and post those.

I like the lighting, the pose and expression in this piece, Joachim.

If this was meant to be more monochromatic, 'tis groovy! If not, my eyes would like to see more variety in the skin tones. I felt 2 basic tones when looking at it. I read the words "color research" before the picture loaded... maybe that just 'colored' me with an expectation of more colors...?

Are you and Micke into WWF? You should come up with a tag-team name!

Thx for the replies...I'm really happy to get some constructive criticism as well as praising.

I agree with you Kurisu.
I did really try to do allot of color influences, but when looking at it now I see that there's just brown and red that really shines through. If you see closely there's a bit of green/blue and grey as well.
Anyway, I will try better next. But, if you see the picture from a very long distance (about a 100 yard ), I feel it can look a bit realistic ...but I'm crazy like that > ....

faust... I like your quick portrait...and I will consider your remark on mine for next time, thanx....comments on yours: I personally think you should try to avoid those strange things you have in the picture...though I respect different styles and taste. But, it kind of gives me a feeling that you've hidden areas you've chosen not to paint, since I can't really make out what those things really are ...I still like it though, just wanted to give a comment on that.

hmmm, seems like I've started getting to comfortable posting to this forum, cause I write without thinking twice anymore...sorry

nooooooo! i will not draw normal images!

yeah, it's true though, for example, i often hide eyes especially. mainly 'cause i never was good at drawing people, faces, and so forth.

i'm just learning to really *draw*, forgive me

Wow Joah, that's unreal! Reminds me of Craig Mullins' cook ("sweating in the soup", was it?). I think, if you smooth it a little with the Airbrush, it would be REALLY hard to tell whether it is a photo or a drawing. The depth (volume) you gave it is also incredibly realistic. You never cease to amaze me
