Jaa. Gidd!

Another quick image. While creating it i started to get unhappy with it, so i will not finnish it. It's taken from a photograph.
I had big problems with getting the colours right, that was the thing that took the most time...not the painting. I think i learned a great deal about colours while doing it.
Anyway Here it is:

looks good. reminds me of a saffron colour scheme and photo refencing job in a way, but without the electric blue and pink.

so, what's wrong with it? what were you aiming for?

hrmm..it looks good to me. of course, I often get that "artist eye" too where I'm never satisfied with a work yet other people say it looks fine. maybe it's just a sign of refusing to settle for something less than your best. (At least for me.)
anyway, for some strange reason this reminds me of that strange pic posted awhile ago of the baby dreaming. perhaps the same man daydreaming later in life? (stupid, I know. )
oh yeah, I've really been liking your style taken lately micke. Especially those Lee pics that you did. reminds me of my beloved oil pastels.

I was aiming for making it real and getting it right with just the right colours and
shadows. I'm trying hard to get into more realism and not to be so darn hanged up with
getting it so "clean", because that is what
taking so much time. I would like to make a pic that makes it come alive with help of the
right choice of colours. I find it really
difficult and challenging. Anyway i'm going to try it out more and see what happens.
thanks for the feedback, guys

Dude, i think it looks great. I agree with the others in the fact that i like your style. And you wanna add more detail into your drawings? If you feel that way then you got yourself this far with that drawing.. i say you could smooth it out and add some shadows. But i still think it looks fine the way it is. It might not look as good with more details though And i agree.. it does look like an oil painting - overall great job man!

Micke,

I think it looks good, but I'd be interested in seeing the original picture. How about overlaying a scan of your picture over your drawing and swap between the two to see the differences -- maybe that could give you a hint as to where you find you may have gone wrong.

I just think Spooge or Loki would be the ones most able to comment on it. I also think it's great that you want to push your art realism a few steps forward -- I really need to do the same instead of blindlessly drawing (crap) from no reference.

Good luck on your exploration Micke!
frost.
