It seems to be very clear that everyone involved in this board has a passion for digital art. But what about other art forms? How many of you actually work with natural media?

Musicians?

Filmmakers?

Poets?

Anything else that escapes me right now? Beyond just art, what do you guys do for fun?

Oh, and an introduction, my name is Joe, a long time listener, first time caller.

yeah, i sort of still am in a (hobbyist) film group (with affected in it, too). and i draw, pen and paper, old skool. i never learned to draw with charcoals, ink, or paint in water or oil or anything, pen and paper is the only way i can draw outside of my monitor...

eh. i got 9 (out of 10, 4 to 10 scale) for my art grade in jr high school, and even that was a result of serious brown nosing and ass licking. plus i think the teacher had a thing for me, being the closet homosexual that he was.

musical talent.. fah, my musical talent is only limited to hardware (synths, effect boxes, vocoders, midi and sequencing, mixers and whatnot) |:

and poetry.. well, i have this odd hunch nobody would want to read pages after pages after pages of some kid whining about a girl he can't get.

although, lately i've noticed that since i've started to draw on pc again, i've mysteriously suddenly learned to draw with pen and paper, almost properly.

odd, since i never really could draw that good either. i guess it's the whole forced-skill deal.

i'm currently taking a life drawing class this year, and over the past three years, have been using natural media, but i'm not too into it. i prefer digital art.
as for other stuff, i play the guitat (electric), and having been doing so for about 3 years now. i took a guitar course last year, to help me out with learing notes, which just confused me. i found learning by myself by playing the stuff i listen to is so much more satisfying...
anyway, gotta go. that's my little contribution to this thread.

Pens and pencil are my main form of natural media, moving over to paints/pastels from time to time.

I play Banjo, and have been for about 4 years. An odd instrument, true, but it's enjoyable. Makes me even more of an individual. @:-)

Welcome, Joe

I just like to create. I've spent more time expressing myself visually, though music and poetry are close seconds. I grew up drawing on paper - mostly b&w - and not too much painting. There are some amazing painters that frequent (and administrate) this forum. The very process of seeing other's work is inspiring, infectious and helps spur me on as an artist...

I find that the more of each I do, the stronger all become, because (I believe) everything ties together. Something I learn from one can usually translate quite simply to another. All are forms of expression, and bouncing between them is very liberating for me.

Fun besides this? Sports, movies, paying taxes (oh man I gotta do that!), hanging out with friends and family... the usual, I guess. What about you? And any secret to the meaning of your user name (though there's a thread about 'real names' that might be a better place to answer in ;P)?

Ciao,
-kurisu

hrmmm..well, let's see
I usually draw using pencil, however I'm becoming addicted to pens...nothing is better than a nice BIC. Also, one of my favorite medias (quit odd) is oil pastels. I like the fact that I can totally screw up and fix it by covering it with a big smear mark. I mess up alot, so most of the image is usually smear marks.

I'm still a beginner with the digital art. I have been playing guitar for 5 years now but you couldn't tell from hearing me I suck. I am formally an architecture student and I believe it encompasses many forms of art within itself. I am also a huge fan and practitioner of industrial design...like designing entire objects such as lamps furniture, hell anything at all I guess I jsut like to build stuff.

I do plenty of pencil/pen drawing, and recently started painting with acrylics. I play guitar in a punk band, Infected.

Welcome Buttle!

I have always loved art and poetry(but like some else said, you dont want to hear any! ). My grandmother was a very talented painter....she still could be but her eye sight is going.....she thinks her paintings are as good as they used to be....its really kind of sad....wow, ok don't know where that came from...sorry.

I play the nose flute, dance naked in the shower and(oh a word of advice..don't try and do water color while taking a shower..... ). I just recently started using pen and Ink, I love it! Just recently started doing digital work.......I'll let you know (Its hard as hell to start if you don't have a clue what you are doing.....hmmm maybe if I could draw....that might help.

HOCKEY! woo! Caps! I Road bike....well I try anyways. Climbing has to be my passion though...nothing more relaxing then hanging on a single digi crimper 15ft off your last placement WOOOOO!!! Yeah baby!!....alright I'll leave now.

For me, digital art is more of a hobby... Filmmaking for me is priority numero uno and what I really love. Being a student at the Academy of Art in California, I get the best of both worlds however. I'm a film major but before that they make sure you can express yourself visually on paper/computer, whatever. I started getting into digital art from a Photoshop class I took... so, woohoo. win win situation.
