Am I right in assuming that many of you don't use the pressure sensitivity feature on tablets, whilst in photoshop? Because the technique most of you people (with tablets) seem to use to draw is to use the paintbrush with opacity set 35% or something then keep layering tones on top of each other... correct me if I 'm wrong but the pressure sensitvity isn't of much use if you draw like that is it?
Oh an alterior motive of this post was to ask a few more people to look at my thread "This guys a weirdo" coz I put a coloured version of him in there, that I wouldn't mind some tips on. As I'm not too good with colour. And I think the back ground needs finishing but I'm too sure how to do it.
Thx.

Personally i almost always use pressure sensitivity in PS....(more so with the opacity than the size) and when using the paintbrush its also usually at 100%. Some times if i want slight adjustments in the value i'll slide the opacity down to like 20% but for the most parts its at 100% but with the pressure opacity checked on. Perhaps what you are seeing in peoples work is just that they also have their opacity at 100% but the layering is all coming from the pressure from the pen. (I could be the only one who does what i do, but i think that would defeat the whole purpose of buying a pen if i didnt use it )

Oh okay, I think I mis-inerpreted the way people were painting. It makes a lot more sense that way. |

Dennison,
you can manually set the pressure settings with the numeric pad on your keyboard.. (a bit shitty if you're right handed).
Amnesia, pressure sensitivity is actually one of the biggest reasons why I love using a tablet so much. It adds so much control to the paint process. I usually have my paintbrush (never start building with airbrush) set to around 65-75% and start building the values up by layering (no not Photoshop layers ) brushstrokes until I get the proper look..
Hope this helps,
Danny

Amnesia,
I couldn't live without pressure sensitivity. Without it, I'd be wasting my time repainting over areas until I got approximately what I wanted. I can't beleive anyone would use a tablet without pressure sense (unless their table doesn't support it).

There are tablets that dont support it?! LOL
For me it would be like drawing with my BIG pen and only being able to make lines with one black color.. because when i draw i always use like different values of black (with pen) by pressing harder/lighter
