...of lurking around i've decided to register and make myself heard. Im trying very hard to learn how to "paint" in PS and soon i'll even have a wacom pad (yay!) so guessed this is the best place to learn :]
For now, it's still mousework, here's my latest doodle, fresh from PS5.5. I started out skeching and coloring with the paintbrush, smudged around for the painty look and finally cranked up the contrast a bit. No filters were harmed (or used...) in the making of this abomination.
It's sposed to look like a hazmat guy covered in slimy goo...if it looks like a chrismas tree, i screwed up.
Oh well, here it is. Be brutal yet fair in your judgement :]

I like that cool watery, jiggly, liquidy style you have. Nice color choice, too. |

Welcome Spitfire
Repeat Tinusch's comment for me.
What's a 'hazmat'? Tell me (us) about the idea behind/for the piece.
Only criticism I might have (depending on what look you were going for) would be about the actual slime (mostly on the hair)... when I think 'slime,' I think of a bit more glistening stuff with sharp highlights here and there... but, maybe the slime is dull, or more dried. Or maybe, I just don't know what I'm talking about :P
I'd like to see more of your work
-k
PS: Any way of making the jpg 'progressive?' When I loaded the pic, it was blank until the whole thing was drawn. Took about 10 seconds or so... I just like to see stuff right away - even if less detailed at first... 'cause I'm impatient like that :P |

Kurisu, thanks :]
HazMat stands for HAZardous MATerials. That term kinda popped in my head when i finished this doodle.
The idea behind it... well to be honest it started out as a cartoonesque variant of myself :] Then i smudged the whole damn thing into a semi-realistic state and decided i wanted to go the cyberpunk-way and gave the guy goggles. After this, goggles weren't enough and i added a mask, which, in turn, quickly turned into the crappy gas-mask you see now. After i came to the conclusion my "portrait" (ahem) had a gas mask on, i thought it'd be cool to put some goo on him to add to the "biohazard" atmosphere of the pic... The goo kinda was an accident (the way it turned out) but it looks sick nonetheless :]
My website is currently offline, but im working on a bunch of new ones. You can see some webdesign stuff here : http://incinerate.niteshade.net/serenity | Splash page for my 3 sites | http://www.crosswinds.net/~anaesthetic/serenity/blue | testpage for my spot @ GFXartist | http://www.crosswinds.net/~anaesthetic | my soon-to-be personal homepage.
You can also browse thru the index of my old "gallery" located here : http://www.crosswinds.net/~anaesthetic/personal/gallery but beware - it's full of old crap. Dont judge me on it
/Spitfire
P.S. sorry i left the progressive out, forget that sometimes :]
