Anyone heard of this album [Engines of Creation] awesome fricken toons man. Check it out. So what music you like? Post post post!! Ooh! in attempt to think of ways to make this post more interesting than your basic run 'o the mill [favorite music post] my brain says do this----> Pop in(on)your absolute favoritst MP3/MD/CD/TAPE/RECORD/8TRACK and paint, just paint. it would be interesting to see what we come up with 'eh? I started something last night, i'll post it later.

I like techno a lot too. Do a search on techno on napster...man you find some weird techno versions of songs. I really like this "Jump around" techno remix song I found. I also like "Ode to Joy" Beethoven 9th symphony (usually featured as a christmas song) but you can hear it a lot in Die Hard. It is also on the Die Hard Soundtrack.

Ummm...I like JayZ too.

Aaron "Hoe Down" is cool too...I like a lot of music, BUT not country. I just can't stand country for some reason. Music about milking cows on a bright summers day, just don't appeal to me

When working i prefer melodic "gotheburg" style metal, heavy & slow sludge/noisecore or some easy techstep/darkstep drum'n'bass.

man we had this topic lots of times here.. but anyway:

I am into almost every music except dance/commercial techno and music with dumb lyrics - there is nothing worse than bad lyrics. A band where noone can play is a bad band. but a band of professionals that have stupid lyrics is a fucking bad band IMHO.

Something that you might want to check out (if you open minded and like the "not so clich" line)

* martin koller's third movement: "Right now"

* Satriani's newest CD (some tracks at least)

otherwise:

* Burn.Time

* Fates Warning "Shades of grey" (the others are not that good IMHO)

* Queensryche "Operation Mindcrime"

* King's X "Dogman"

Well thats some pearls.. if you don't know some of them give them a chance

The grind/death sector seems well-supported here lately My latest aquisition is the new NILE. It truly redefines the word brutal.

Hey Chris, if you wanna know what techno really sounds like, try searching for:

Jeff Mills
Derrick May
Carl Craig
Joey Beltram
Dan Bell
Pacou
Underground Resistance

I'm not sure how well represented they might be on Napster . . . a lot of techno only comes out on wax.

Agh, I feel like an awful populist and trendiot for not knowing like 90% of the stuff listed here. :|
I listen to quasi-mainstream music.
Currently into Aphex Twin and his ambient works.
I've listed my more specific interests on a few other topics on this...

is it all about death and dying now?? man i'm almost tired of all these dead zombies walking around trying to worship satan... i was in 7th grade when all the kids would wear metal spikes and all black with pale skin.

and then in high school they all turn out to be ugly white trash losers that think they're all bad. ooook, you go off and be bad then...

i like all the music, but i don't like the stupid people who try and be something they're not.

Silico, i think you have a rather false image of metal in the late 90ies It's not rednecks wearing mullets and studs no more. Well, they're still around, but not too many of em. I for one, look pretty boring and generic, not "metal" at all.

And, besides bands like Mortician, Dying Fetus and the like, most metal bands dont have songs about rotting corpses and zombie sodomy anymore. Not the ones mentioned anyway.

"Metal is your friend!"

Great.
Now you went and said it. I personally don't know Slipknots music all that much, but I was hoping that, for at least once, we could have a conversation that involves opinions that doesn't stoop to being "X rules! Y sucks!".
And the unavoidable flaming.
Sometimes I just... Ahh, fuck it.

even the shitty sleeve "art" doesn't save slipknot from damnation in the shitpit.

but then again, i'm taking chances here by admitting i like some of limp bizkit's crap.

but then again, i like all saints over all and everything.

muwhaha.

Roadrunner's putting out shittier and shittier layout jobs with every record... only when the band themselves arranges it, it works out (E.C./Slither - Dave Mckean glory). The ugliest to date must be the "primitive" cover for soulfly. Primitive indeed, just like the shitty music.

You know just today I was skating through Edinburgh with a friend and we were talking about how bad Slipknot are and some punk overheard us, and he was a real punk, mohican hairstyle, bullet belt, chains, leather straps, piercings, the whole shebang. And he took offence to it and attacked us but we managed to get away.
Seeing as he must be a slipknot fan he must also therefore be a depressed, suicidal misled poof.
Avoid Slipknot fans at all cost they will kill you.

Funny how a "true" punk who obviously must hate capitalism and commercial music, is willing to fight for a band signed on a major label that makes money with making "hard music" easily digestible for the big public *sigh* another misled fool.

There were two slipknot fans in my art class last year. Talk about freaks man. That was sophomoore year in high school, but they were freshman. There's a joke huh? A couple of 15 year old slipknot junkies. I swear, they were some of the two most negative people I have ever known. I think they both deserved a serious reality check (like a boot to the face for instance) anways, thats my experience with evil slipknot fans.
