Being one of the 5 or so guys that are trying to get this archive started I'm going to attempt to respond to some of the recent posts concerning the digital art vs. scanned art ideas that have been flying around. I would have to agree with Loki in that this issue is not so black and white. Our idea so far is to include all things considered Digital Art. If you want to know what we consider Digital Art just look at Loki's recent post on the subject because I believe what he explained fits our perceptions of Digital Art very closely.
As for the name of the site we have decided to go with DIGIARTCHIVE or...if we can come up with a totally original name that is more than just a description of what the site is about, that really sounds cool we would go with that but so far we haven't gotten any suggestions or come up with anything better ourselves.
As for getting this thing off the ground as soon as possible... we need you artists to contribute a bit more. Since we decided to go ahead on this idea I have only recieved 4 submissions of peoples art. We are going to need a lot more than just 4 artists to fill a digital art archive. So please send your submissions to [email protected] so we can get something up so that you can vote on what images you want in. The sooner we get more submissions the sooner we can get a site up. |

Hmmm, a name....
I don't think much of digitalartchive, and I'm a big fan of obscure words (most people prefer an obvious name because everyone thinks "marketing angle" these days; me, I say stuff like "yeah, and nothing called Sijun could ever get of the ground right?")
Anyway there's a wonderful quote that I'll never forget (but I can't remember who said it :b).
"Great art is the footprint of civilisation."
So I think it should be called thefootprint.com, or some variation of that. As if to say "this is a place where people can make their mark."
or you can tell this silly old romantic to piss off. either is fine.

My suggestion is:
'binarydreamscape.com'
the domain is still open, but probably not for long!

"thefootprint.com" sounds excellent ...
I've got another question: how do we really get images up on the gallery - if people just submit their work to you, nobody knows about it - can't we vote in the forum, in the actual post containing the image? And then, when there are enough votes, the artist submits the image to you, in an email that also contains the number of votes.

whew... been away from a computer for while cause of spring break.
Loki, after I recieve the submissions once we get a page up it will have all the submissions we have gotten so far on it and a way to vote them into the forum. We don't have the exact details of the voting process worked out yet though. Well.. back to spring break hehe ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |
