HI all,

OK, lets say I draw something and I put it in my scanner and it previews it. Now what DPI should I scan it in as? 300, 150 72 etc..
I know for just monitor use anything over 72(I think so) is just a waste. But lets say I scan it in at 150 and lets say the image size is 2000 by 1586. Now when I down size that to put on a web page, I would get it down to 72 and also alot smaller image size. Now this should work fine correct? This is my first time scanning a drawing in and then painting it. So just a bit iffy on it. I know from what I have read and done that painting in higher image size (2000x2000 etc.)helps quite abit.
Can you please give me what you suggest I do. Basically, I am just looking for a correct method in painting in high image size and then down sizing it down to put on the web or send over email.

Thanks alot!
J

You should only worry about the DPI if you're inputting the dimensions as centimeters or inches. DPI only affects output when printing. A 2000x2000 image at 72 dpi is the same as a 2000x2000 image at, say, 1000 dpi, only at 1000 the printout will be a lot smaller. It doesn't affect the image on your screen.
