Hello volkz

I just saw Roach's post and flyers. Cool work Roach!

So now i just have to post a few of my own:
They were both for psychedElic trance events in Aarhus, Denmark!

1. We Come in Peace... Alien girl!
I stripped the text from this one, for your viewing pleasure
....3d elements composited on a sky photo!
Time: two evenings.... modeling/texture/render/composite.

2. Not much to say... Lightwave Octo-thingy on multi-layered fractal/weirdo-backgrounds
Time: one evening.

Feel free to comment...

freakin' nice stuff, Ko... I hope to incorporate more 3d stuff into my designs eventually ; right now, I'm stuck using a freeware 3d program called Blender. Pretty good, but the interface is enough to make you wish there was a "die, you stupid program, die die" button on the keyboard. How'd you make the weird swishy background for the 2nd flyer? pretty sweet. Love your work. I'm working my way, slowly but surely, up to that standard

Hi guys

Dennison: Yes the images look pretty much the same in print as they do on my monitor.
Very crisp with all the details and CMYK conversion doesn't hurt the images either.
I have a 4 year education as compositor, so I know the drill when making images for print.
The resolution of the flyers is about 1792x1284 pixels (15x11 cm, 300dpi)
If anybody has any questions regarding computer to print, I'd be happy to answer!

Shizo: Pink Pussy is the name of the party arrangers
Babuska Cyberdog is a clothing store in Aarhus, Denmark!

Later...

lucky you, Ko. As you notice, I like the colour blue The problem is I do all my images in RGB, and the conversion to CMYK is god awful! It turns all my wonderful blues into purple/grays! I dunno if it's just cause Photoshop's RGB-CMYK colour look-up table isn't as good as it could be, or if CMYK just blows when it comes to shades of blue...

Hi TurboYVR

The background in the second flyer is made with KAI's Powertools 5 (FlameFrax)
Very sweet little plug-in, (Infact KPT5 is probably the best image filter package you can get if you want to play with techno-stuff, I use it alot when making flyers and posters).
If your money says no... then try "The GIMP"
here's a link to a windows version: www.gimp.org/win32/ www.gimp.net

Use the right mousebutton on a new image and choose: Filter->Render->Nature->Flame, and you're set!

The Flame filter in GIMP is actually the same as in KPT5, it is coded by the same guy!!
I Guess that he sold it to Metacreations
The KPT5 version is just a helluva lot easyer to use!

phew...

By the way... there's a whole bunch of those "flames" composited over one BIG one!
I have xxx layers in that image

Hi TurboYVR

Actually the hardest colours to reproduce in CMYK are the ones of the blue persuation
A very deep blue colour always ends up a horribly mutated grey-purplish blob!
Sorry... by the way don't feel blue hehe...

Hi Dennison

well... you actually don't solve the conversion problem cuz it can't be done!

What you can do is:
1. If it's a blue background for example, you could print it as a fifth colour. This fifth colour would usually be defined with the Pantone matching system, which is a series of custom made printing inks....
Photoshop and Illustrator can use these.
Photoshop actually lets you paint with the Pantone colours, but not very many output systems, RIP's (Raster Image Processor) can handle these files... there is a whole bunch of stuff to take in to account when working with extra colours... too much to start with here, SORRY!

2. There are alternatives to CMYK seperation,
such a hexachrome (six colours) and a 7 colours seperation is also available... but unfortunately I have never had the privilege to work with either of these But whether they can reproduce the deep blues and other troublesome colours... who knows?
But I have seen some fine prints done with seven colours and boy... they were very vivid and clear!

fingers hurting, gotta stop
