Yep. Count the dots, if you want. Tell me if you do.
I need to sleep now, I've got an exam at 9 am, and it's 1.15 am.

Very nice! The ridges around the eye look lovely indeed, especially at the top right. But if there's one thing here that distracts me, it's the reflection on the eye - maybe it shouldn't be so sharp-edged and uniformly white.

Hm, yeah, I thought about the eye, it's just that one thing I remembered about full-black eyes I'd seen before was that the reflection was indeed sharp and bright white. Darkmoon's idea about a secondary reflection is a good one, though, I guess I'll try that one. That might require a new layer, though (Or at least it would be easier to do on a new layer), and I haven't yet used any for this image, and I'm not sure I want to... :P

In other news, it is now 5:30 am. I just haven't been able to sleep, and I have no idea why. I might as well check the forums and start studying french, since I didn't do that yesterday. Augh.
And uh-oh, it looks like I forgot to do some tidying up on the ridges Saffron mentioned...

Funfetus: What's the most anal, time-consuming way you can think of?
Yep, the airbrush. :P

I did try to make a tileable texture first, but it looked terrible when overlayed on top of this, and I needed the rows of dots to flow along th surface, so I airbrushed each and every one of them. First I used the airbrush set to screen to make the dots, and then shaded them a little with the airbrush set to multiply. And I did that a lot.
Someone somewhere mentioned this might be a good thing to do a site design based on, but really, I'm not sure I want to draw a single dot just now...

Hmm, I'm not sure if the secondary reflection improves things. Maybe it shouldn't be grey but rather deep blue/green on the edges - nothing is truly black in nature so a pure grey highlight looks unnatural. Same with the primary reflection.
But don't get me wrong, this is just a minor peeve, overall it's a strong design with some juicy texturing - I like a lot

Hm I tried blue and dark brown (Because the iris underneath is a dark brown), I didn't notice any major difference. Something very subtle, but maybe I'm just too tired to notice it. I tried to actually sleep, but my cat decided not to let me, jumped on my stomach and started scrathing. Grr.

Now, I'm going to make an estimate of how many dots there are.
