Hiya amigos!
Maybe some of you knew The Bitmap Brothers company - a creator of Xenon series, Chaos Engine, Z and some other game hits. As far as i remember they are used an Amiga computers with gfx software. But WHAT gfx? I'm especially interested what gfx-prog have been used for a 'Z' game. Some of you guys came from Amiga, so maybe you remember the gfx soft you've used?
I think that the most popular package was a 'Deluxe Paint' - a really cool thing for pixel by pixel work. Is this prog still alive?
Why Bitmap Brothers? Well, i think they are maked very good and stunning samples of pixel art. Just try to draw something in a 64x64 (or 32x32 for hardcore) pixels matrix .

Bitmap Brothers were around in the Amiga scene since the very earliest days of the computer, and there was only one gfx program around at that time; Deluxe Paint.
Over the later years as they hired more artists, some might have used the alternative program (that was created some time later), Brilliance, but statistically speaking most Amiga artists tended to stick with DPaint.
So to answer your question, I'd guess that they would have mostly used DPaint, and maybe a little Brilliance. And when development shifted more to the PC they almost certainly would have began using Photoshop. But thats just a guess.
The Bitmap Brothers are actually still around and currently working on several games (including a 3D update of Speedball).

Thanks guys!
I've worked with DPaint (dos version) so i dunno about difference between Amiga and PC versions. Maybe videomodes? On PC it runs under 320x200, 640x480, 800x600 etc. But seems like today this sorf of software are dead.
n8: Yes! If i'm not mistaken i've finished the first level about 2 min without losing my grunts =). But the last level was a hella hard... phew! Those guys have done a lot of work on sprites and background animation also... and these 30 min of humorous video sequences... hehehe
