ok, I can only give a description (cause if I could find his pics I'd know his name and we wouldn't need this thread)

He was a famous-ish sci-fi/surreal artist from the 70s and 80's. Very very distinctive airbrush style.
He did a lot of album covers for the band "Yes" (but don't hold that against him)
And remember the Psygnosis game "Shadow of the Beast"? He did the box art for it.

Very cool iirc.
Anyone know who I mean?

those pics on demon don't really reflect his style all that well I reckon.
He does the most amazing rock formations.
There's few who can convey 'otherworldliness' quite like him.
I can't find his cover for 'Shadow of the Beast' anywhere though.
even http://www.rogerdean.com/ doesn't have it (and they're real stingy on the pic dimensions too. Sure they're trying to protect the stuff, but 200 pixels across!? C'mon!)

If you're interested in Roger Dean's work and his brother Martin, there are two books you should own. "Views" and "Magnetic Storm, successor to Views". I have them both and they are incredible.
These guys do great things with type faces also.
