Hi everyone,

I was just wondering if any "professionals" out there can share with us what they do to avoid burnout. I'm a amateur artist trying to get a break professionally and wonder how you guys pump out the art day after day. I find that at times I just get exhausted thinking on that side of the brain and need to take a timeout. Any comments?

dunno well for me it is like that ...
i have an idea .. put down what i am thinking of .. the rest is not very creative .. its just painting , looking at details , correcting mistakes ...
well the creative period is very short ..
=)

and the next ideas come out while i am drawing the last one .. hehe
=D
does that make sense ?
i think not .. but anyway ..

I make music as a creative counter-activity. My job doesn't often allow me to work on my own, so when I get home I switch on the gear and make music.
Having a positive attitude towards your work and knowing your limits helps to avoid burnout and disappointments ...
Beer, cigarettes and hanging out with friends keeps one tired but happy too ...

I'm certainly no "pro", but I do know that when I have some tunes going in the background, like some really trancey spacey electronica or something, you can get lost in what you're doing. You just GO... look up at the clock, and four hours have mysteriously disappeared

I'm notexactly a pro either but when I'm trying to craft characters or thing of plot lines I tend to do it when I'm walking places or driving. Then I have a set time at night when I either write out my character sketch ar plot skeleton. You can make idele time useful...

Thanks for the comments guys.... something I was always curious about. To me, it feels like my creative side can get drained. As in I can do many paintings or drawings for a couple days but then I need sometime off or I feel the stuff I'm producing is crap. I was just trying to see if anyone else is like that or am I the only freak? heeheh

Cheers,
