Hello all. I am new here and am very excited and I'll tell you why! I found this page/forum yesterday and finally learned what makes all of you such fab artists (besides talent, bien sur). Yes, yes, I read your posts very carefully and learned about dodge and burn!! For the last year I've been using those Eyecandy filters like they're going out of style and wondering why my artwork always looks so filtered So! Now, I am not a fantabulous artist and this may be somewhat of a premature celebration but I would like to share this breakthrough with likeminded people. So here it is, enjoy it or critique it if the spirit moves you:

I appreciate the fact that you are all so willing to share your hard work and knowledge.

Hey welcome to the board! Oh and congrats for finding the dodge and burn! I remember my first time... hehe!

Anyway, your pic seems fine as I assume you were just getting used to the new tool and probably didn't spend hours on it.
Well, tips for when you do another piece, try to keep your pic sharp and um... well, put colour in! That's about all I can say.

Enjoy the board and keep posting!

Oh, BTW, I assume you're a female because of your name being 'huntress' emphasis on the 'tress'? I just wanted to get that straight incase there are any misunderstandings...

Dodge Burn! Dodge Burn! Dodge Burn!...

Thats all I ever here about!
What about the unappreciated Sponge tool that shares the same bed as Dodge and Burn?
Why dont we here more about this misunderstood soul?
The sponge tool knows whats going on. Hes not stupid. The other tools may make fun of him and never invite him to any partys, and tape the lock on his locker shut, AND AND AND THROW RAZOR BLADES FROM ART CLASS AT HIM WHEN THE TEACHER ISNT LOOKING. BUT ONE DAY AFTER HIGH SCHOOL IS OVER THE SPONGE TOOL WILL HAVE A HIT LIST OF ALL THE OTHER TOOLS THAT HAVE MISTREATED HIM SOO BADLY OVER THE YEARS AND FANTISISE ABOUT WHAT HE WILL DO TO THEM SO MUCH THAT HIS BOSS MAKES HIM STAY HOME THE REST OF THE WEEK BECAUSE HE CANT FOCUS ON HIS JOB!!! AND WHEN HE GOES BACK TO WORK ALL OF HIS COWORKERS STARE AT HIM BECAUSE THEY ALL KNOW WHY HE WAS GONE LAST WEEK!!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGGG!!!!!!!

THE SPONGE TOOL CANT TAKE IT ANY MORE!!!!
(the sponge tool sobs to himself in a pitifull manner as he takes out an AK47 and puts it into his mouth.......)

Well.. you can't call yourself a man if you never use the airbrush where dodge/burn could be used! In the Netherlands, we call doing things the hard way: Bikkels. And being a bikkel should be the goal of your life ;]

Greets to mister sponge, which I use quite a lot :]

Please! Forget using dodge/burn! It's just a bad habit. You should start using brushes and eventually the airbrush to do all the shading and stuff. Colour dodge/burn should be used with real caution.
