And about the $400 dollars, its called Christmas =). Thats about the only way I can get anything related to digital art (since it is such an expensive type of art).

Oh yeah, and you could also get a job..heh

Hey whats up, I just turned 17 and I've been in the computer world since I was 12-13 years old and have been in the digital art world for about 3 years now ... my skills are mainly in 3D but I am developing my illustration skills. I would say the most important skill I have learned from 3d art is the ability to think in multitudes of realities.

Im 15 myself, and guess whats so great about being young and in this biz-

We may not be as good as the kick-ass twenty somethings out there, but when you feel down and say 'damn i wish i were that good' you can say, "hey! ill bet im 10x better right now than he was 5 years ago! At that rate, ill be....umm...better at his age?"

yeah, I'm 15... I'm not much of artist, but I figure if I learn the basics and get a tablet, I'll be able to make some decent stuff... of course, the $400 (US dollars, of course) is rather extreme... I'll have to go to the dump and rummage around until I find an old tablet, or maybe rob a convenience store and buy one, or perhaps just rob a computer store and steal myself one... maybe grab a decent computer at the same time. Anyways, I turn 16 in June, and I kinda suck at art, but I'm not TOO bad at making stuff look ALRIGHT... I'll never be like most of the people on this board, but I'll be decent if I keep trying...

I'm 14 (15 in May), and I was wondering if there's any more younger artists on this forum. Could be fun to have our own discussion (like about tablets.. kinda hard to get $400 one when you dont have your own incomes). Give me a reply or mail...

I dunno about anyone else here, but im just getting the impression you all feel as tho you can't do crap without a graphics tablet.

Admittedly i love my tablet, but i learn't with the mouse and so should you... And im afraid the "parents wont buy me a tablet so im gonna rob someone" thing isn't helping the young artist image.

Just what am i saying... lemme thing.. oh yeah, Love the mouse, practice and dont rob ppl :P

Believe me, i've been there, i've just turned 18. www.uq.net.au/~zzjvogt/

Im 17, but what I wanted to sat is that I agree with Daniel Vogt when he said that he's getting the impression that you cant do shit without a graphics tablet. It looks like you think that to be a digital artist you only need to have a tablet and thats it, you're done, brand new digital artist. Its funny to think this, but it looks that way :)

I'm fifteen, turning sixteen in June. I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to digital art. I have a bit of practice to go yet, something I haven't been doing much. I get tense, impatient and frusterated! A burning anger ignites within me..!

Age doesn't matter much online, does it?
I've scared enough clients by not being the 30 year old, trained professional they expected to see

That's the good thing about it. It doesn't matter if you're 14 or 40, if you're good you'll get respect...and jobs...and money and stuff.

BTW. Wacom tablets rool. I've worked with that damn mouse for years and I maneged to make some cool illustrations, but it's soo much easier using a tablet...

I'm thinking about doing websites for small businesses (or how the fu** it's spelled in plural). Think I could get a job considering I'm just 14? Check my site out an' tell me what you think...
