Hi everyone!
I've started working on my homepage layout and wanna to show you a piece of my stuff.
If you are under 18 age, don't look'n'read next blah !

Okei, here is an image from my scratch file, it's unfinished and cropped (maybe censored ?) ...hey folks, it's not a porn - it's ART, trust me. I don't use any reference photos.

What do you think? I need some advise on a shading or how to make a realistic skin? Also what do you think about anatomy? Is it real? And so on... don't be lazy - write something !

/Leo

From what I can see, her body looks proportionate. She needs a belly button though. And she's missing a finger on her right hand

As for skin I don't know what to tell you other than, try using a more skin-like color, instead of the orangey red tones. That in itself may help a bit. But other than that, great job, keep up the good work

The pic itself is really good. The only suggestion I have (apart from the previously mentioned missing belly button and finger ) is for the skin color. Do you use dodge/burn to shade the skin? If you do, try first burning using the Midtones setting, which will give you the red-orange color you got, then switch to Highlights and burn over it. That will help reduce the bright orange-redness. Hope this helps!

No, you're right. I was just giving feedback to his question on how he can get the skin on this girl to look more realistic. And since he has a white girl there, or she looks to me like a white girl, I suggested using a different shade for more realistic looking skin. So that's all I have to say

C'mon pyco, don't say stuff just for the sake of it. It seems quite obvious that the woman in the picture is caucasian, therefore when people were commenting on a more accuracte skin tone, there's no reason why they shouldn't state how to make it look more "white."

I'd recommend to Leo, that you select the skin by -Select -Colour Range and then adjust the colour balance, perhaps adding more cyan and blue to get a more accurate tone. I tried it on my computer but the image is too poor a quality in terms of resolution, and I get some weird shit happening when I try. Perhaps you have a higher resolution image to try it on?

I havent sifted through the other posts, so this may have been said, but the only things I see wrong with this one is that the girl has a receding hairline, and her detailing (mainly breasts and some of her hair) is too blurry. Blurring things makes blackline go away yes, but sometimes changing the actual color of a line to something more similar to the skin color makes things a bit cleaner.

Proportions look great though, and I like the position. She very looks animated, meaning a lot of motion. The way its colored too, gives it a nice 'golden age' comic feel to it too, I like this a lot. Plus she's naked, that's always good

Keep up the good work here.

This pic have an interesting story. First, i've drew a sketch than do a scan and color it using paintcan and dodge/burn tools. Next i started using a smudge tool over the all sketchy lines... it's standart technique same to Dhab's. After a shot rest i came back and look at her... oh my! She was so shiny and very cartoonish like... i've tried reduce values but gotta only a lot of mud. So i take a paintbrush and work with it. The result you may see here. Yeah, pic need to be more defined or BLUR OFF (like ScOOP said). Immi, usually i don't play with color balance... but i'll try. Pic is still unfinished, so your advises will be helpful. Maybe you see other flaws?

It's a good picture Leo, and it'll be really great when it's finished!

I think that the main problem is the skin colouring. I think that perhaps you should add some dark shadows to add the the 'mood' of the picture (more sensual and erotic etc). Then you could have strong contrasts between the skin colour and the black shadows.

Oh and try not to use the dodge tool on the picture because the highlighs just don't look right when u use that. Try using the airbrush on low opacity and gradually shading it manually. I know it takes longer, but the results are much better. Only use the dodge tool if a spotlight (or other strong light source) is shining on her or something like that.

But the pic will turn out really great whichever method u decide to go with. Make sure to post it when it's done!

Hmmm...not to say that you guys are racists or anything, but...what makes you think that skin is supposed to be a white/pinkish color. I'm not sure if you have noticed but there are tan, white, albino, black, red, brown, yellowish, and many other skin colors, so don't just limit the skin colors of characters to a white persons skin color.

i'm done, and let the flames and shit roll on below.....

Very nice, it improved greatly from the first peice you put up, the lines are very clear.
I wish i had breasts like that hehe nice.
the shading is nice too.
The only things i see wrong but just my opinion, is the hair at the forehead, i think the hairline is too far back or something, and it looks like you reverted back to your first style with the cloth and the hair (ie. not as crisp as the rest of the picture) but overall nice pic

Lookin great!

I just think you should use some black shadows to bring out the lines a bit more. So it's a bit more refined. And I agree about the hair. It could be more refined also. But other than that, it's excellent. I really like the back ground!

Aggghhh... at last someone look at the background clouds !!! Yay ! I've got an inspiration from the fantastic sky shots of the 'Riven' game (ok, i know that my isles are sucks). So here is a sample from bg layer (without goddess ) -

Oscar, i dunno how many people interested in a cloud tutorial but if they really want/need it i'll try to make one. And i'll need a good editor cuz my english is sucked =).

Well i've deleted upper image so a new one your may look here -

Hope hair now looks better...
Hey Jess, thanks for the idea! Ta-da !

*astonished* I'm speachless. She's beautiful. I loooove the sparkles! And the castle, great idea. Your isles, water, clouds and planet in the sky are great too. I have no idea how to do that realistic background stuff on the computer. I can do people! But... my enviroments suck so bad it's not even funny.

Good good good *ClapS*

Wow, that is a kick ass pic!
It's interesting to see how the focus of the picture recedes with every version...
In the first picture it was the hair, then the breasts and in the finished pic it's the red piece of cloth... IMHO, anyway.

This is a really nice drawing .. but there is one thing that bugs me a little and that is the hair .. it looks a bit like the piece of cloth that she wears .. . The hair could have been a bit more detailed .. imho . i have a link to a picture that shows how i would draw hair .. ( its done just for this reply so dont judge too hard on that ) hopefully thi s emphazises what i mean .

look at this .. worksteps :

Yeah, I like acryls hair a lot. It's good. It's much more refined and the hair is not so much one 'mass', rather made up of lots of fine strands.

But Leo, your latest version of your image is great! I think the 'floating castle' and the sparkles were really good additions! It really gives it this great 'fantasy element' which complements the picture well!

Wow... guys, you da just bug hunters! You've catch bug by bug .
Acryl - exactly! Hair is sucks! Next time i'll use a couple of good reference photos to avoid this problem. But now i can't fight with it anymore... seems funny that in my 25Mb workfile they looking fine, clean and enough detailed, but after resizing down and save it as a JPG file they looks sucked as you can see. Hmmm...
So here is an advise from my expirience:
NEVER DRAW ONLY FROM MIND!
DRAW FROM LIFE MORE!
...or draw from a good references if you don't have a live model .
