umm, excuse me? That's a painting????
GEEZ that's good! If anyone saw it finished they would misatake it for a photo. The only way I could tell it was a painting was because it's half finished. Whoa, I need a reality check, amazing stuff.

When it comes to realism, this guy is DA MAN.

Well,I got an Email from Sten Mortensen asking me about the painting, saying he saw a link on Dhabih Eng's Forum. Since I know Dhabih, I decided to come over and see what's up, I haven't been to his site in a while.

I'm glad you guys like the pic, I was going for a photo realistic style. I did it all from scratch in Fractal Painter5, with a Wacom Intuos tablet. I did it all mostly with the airbrush, accept for the hair, which I used the paint brush for. I was looking at a good photo I got off the web of Queen Amidala from Star Wars.

BTW, mOO, YES, the ass2 pic is a reproduction I did of a painting by Boris. I'm not trying to take credit for Boris's work. I really like his style so I reproduced it. Reproducing stuff you like is the best way to learn different styles. Boris has the luxary of having models, I don't so, I use photo's or other works if I'm trying to do some real photo realistic work.

Sorry I didn't state that it was from a Boris painting, maybe I should, I assumed everyone knows that already, at least most of the people that are looking at art on the web do, such as yourself.

There is also a Frazeta reproduction I did up there too,

wow, first a suspected Craig Mullins sighting(spooge-demon) and now Shane Caudle. Its...almost....too...much....for...me....to....handle(*collapse on the floor*) :P

On the subject of good sites, I recently started doing news for www.3dpalette.com
Just thought you should know we're going to have a sweet ass tutorial up in a couple of days by Petar Ivancek. Heres the final image- http://www.geocities.com/SoHo/Canvas/8967/assaultfinal.JPG . He also did spotlight 44 at www.gameart.com. Take a look, this guys quite impressive.
Here's some other sites i'd recommend:
http://www.valley.ru/~team/indexie.htm -this is a really cool little russian[dont worry they use english on the site]) site-awesome sketches http://www.westwood.com/games/nox/main_f.html -really cool wallpapers and concept art-all photoshop stuff http://www.interplay.com/icewind/ -Jason Manley's Painter artwork, real cool

I'd really recommend you check all these sites out, they've got some terrific artwork.
Oh yeah, and if there's anyone out there looking for something to do, and you're dedicated, give me a shout, we need help on 3dpalette. Just to let u know, we've got some really sweet full quality tutorials(well, theyre more like from concept to completion to pieces) lined up from some really good artists. We're also cataloguing a ton of tutorials from other sites. I dunno i just love that shit.

cheers

I am not saying that he is not good I am sure he is.. but there is another painting on his site he sayd he did wich was a BORIS Vollejo art, It is not really his work... at all.. I could do that with the photo.. trust me.. if you want to see realism look for Sorayama

Do you have down syndrome? Could you be anymore retarded?

Perhaps it was jealousy that made you post that mindless post. Whatever the case may be, you couldn't be more wrong. Before you accuse people of things like that you should probably do a little research. Frankly, you aren't worth the time it is taking me to type this, so I'm going to stop now.

Talking to me?

Dude.. look at Amidala.jpg and check out the face.. there is an obvios blur tool used ot make her skin look like it was painted I can do that in 10 seconds.. you must not have worked with photoshop much.. that is ok.. spend the 300 bucks and get it.. play with it and then talk to me.

Lets say it IS real..

if it is then yes that ROCKS..
Like I said...

I am not taking anything away from his talents.. he is VERY GOOD..

I been through his Whole site.. and and I seen what he can do.. and acording to his Other art work that he did this one is WAY different than the other ones.. I am sure he used a Computer pic of Amidala to draw from?

eh???

anyway if it was real and wanted to prove it to us he can..

EVERYONE that works in photoshop saves the STAGES of progres.

he should post either 3 or 4 files that shows the stages that this art work went through OR he can Post the PSD file that we can download so we can see the Actual Layering he is using..
If he can not than there is nothing that pic proves other than it is on the screen

Well, pangaea, I work in Photoshop, and I rarely save stages of progress. Therefore your statement that 'EVERYONE that works in photoshop saves the STAGES of progress.'
is false. And this wasn'te ven made in PS, was it? Besides, I've seen people paint photorealistic things before, I have no problem believing this is painted.

Pangaea,

Have you looked at your own work? You suck. You are in NO position to accuse others of ANYTHING. He did NOT use a blur tool, he painted it in Painter (i believe). Nevertheless, it is original.

You seem to think that you are an expert on Photoshop and Digital Art, when in reality, your art is crap. You have no leverage in your arguement. You obviously do not know what you are talking about when you open your mouth. I suggest you practice some more, then maybe you won't get so jealous of other artists' work.

And for your information, I've used Photoshop for 5+ years, both professionally and leisurely.. maybe YOU should play with it a bit more.

Next time, think before you speak. Otherwise, I'll just continue to put every single arguement you throw at me to shame. Why? Because you are undeniably wrong.

Mongoose..

I seen your art too..

and you have used photoshop for 5+ years and STILl art work that looks like that..

You must be a SLOW learner

I NEVER said my art work was good....

you don't have to be a Perfect Artist to see something that COULD be faked.

LOOK AT THIS..

if I came here out of NOWHERE and posted something like this..

http://www.funkymonkey.net/pangaea/hotty.jpg and said I am not finished with it.. would you believe me..

????? That TOOK less that 10 minutes to do....

if I spend at HOUR on it it would be 3 times as good..

if I spend 4 hours on it I could fool you as easy as your parents did... telling you that you were a planned child...

Shut your mongrol head you lamer.

------------------
-=PANGA=-
http://pangaea.ac

PS- All my art work you saw was over 4 years old... I have not posted any recent stuff yet!

PSS- I CAN Believe if that was on on Canvas... I seen Canvas work that good.

PSSS I am not jealous I will be the first and last to admit that he Blows me away as an Artist... Jealousy is something I never had... I am a Computer Geek not an Artist for a living.. he is...

if it came to troubleshooting windows or configuring beOs, Linux, Os/2 Warp, Win Nt- Solaris, or Netware ... or even configuring a router... I would Blow your ass away mongrol.. I mean Mongoose!

Pangaea.Ac I assure you it is not a photo. Though, I'm glad you think so. And it was not done in PhotoShop, Painter is much better for straight up airbrushing. I do have a few previous versions saved, this is the earliest one I have http://www.scott.net/~shane/Amidala1.jpg

As you can see the forehead area isn't detailed yet with the stippling effect (and yes it is done by hand with the Airbrush by making little dots). It is a time consuming style, but works well for skin.

Pangaea.Ac Yes, actually I did the level and textures with the Stained glass. Funny, I just posted those on my site earlier.
http://www.scott.net/~shane/Paintings/Goddess.html

BTW, all in game textures are 8 bit 256 colors unless you have a S3 card.

You know, that way some people seem to enjoy bashing on others is what bothers me about this board... (and others, too)
So Pangaea was wrong. That's that. Move on.
