this is how you get shit cheap!:

hamster method is:

make friends with the gardeners or the roofing or construction people. ask them if they know any bussinesses that are moving(law firms, banks churches).
if they know of any, ask if you and your friends/parents can help move. if its yes, go there with a car and when you are moving their stuff...grab the thrown away stuff on the ground!!! there will usually be monitors, jazdrives, credit cards, staplers , pez, keyboards, mice(eek!), and other things like markers and speakers...maybe even an AMP. its not illegal(they threw it out) and its free!!!!...plus they get their desk and whatever else they wanted, moved by you.

i got some stuff this way, my dad and I went to a court place and picked up all the trash they left around and just stuck it in the truck when we left, the guards didnt care. and we got a few Pentium 1's wich we gave to friends and the little TV i use in my room for VHS burning. hehe.

so go forth and become a moving service, just for one day!!!!

Alright peoples:
P3 504 mhz
128MB PC-133 Micron Ram
15Gig of HD (2 Quantum fireballs)
[Overdrived]RivaTNT2 32 meg 128bit (upgrading to Nvidia GeForce when the next level of chip comes out)
4x Quad CD changer
4x CDROM
17" Monitor
Scanner, Color Printer, B&W Laser printer.
33.6 modem (only connects at 26400)

I need a connection and video update. Some of you other guys have some seriously sweet hardware, how do you afford it? I was particularly impressed with the person with a 750 Athlon and 338 megs ram or so. A little overkill if you ask me.. =)

Okay, my set-up:

Dusty, and rotting old Pentium 90 MHz CPU

15 inch Samsung monitor WITH ACTUAL BITE MARKS IN THE BLOODY THING (I got it used). Max resolution: 800X600

A whopping 12 megs of SDRAM

A 4X CD ROM
Sanyo stereo-system hooked up for extra bass (more like bass-less POS that sounds worse than my alarm clock)

No-name video card (about 2 megs of video memory)

Sound Blaster 16-bit sound card (arguably the best component of my computer, except, it's slightly old, and... broken)

Oh, can't forget my rippin' $4 dollar mouse!

Oh yeah, and you just have to love my 14.4 kbps modem! It only takes 1.5 hours to download 1 MB!

wow dylon, I really feel for you man...I would hate to explore the information age with that equipment, but I've been there, so I know how it goes.

My suggestion (of course), buy a new computer!

Go with the GeForce - if you want a tnt2 for games, pay the extra bucks for the extra framerate you get. More frames equals smoother games and a lot more fun.
