Okay, I'm no master, infact I've only CGed a few times, but I still think I can help.
The face looks pretty cool, Raziel has that greenish tint in the game, so that's dead on. I like the smudgeing, and the burning you did with the face. The cape looks a little flat, nothing the dodge tool wouldn't fix The hair doesn't seem to fade into the head, it's just kind of like a cardboard cut-out Hard to explain... anyways, if you defined the lines, and did a bit more shading it would be a real nice pic. Not that it isn't already
Dylon
p.s. Raziel is quite the popular figure to draw isn't he? |

It's good. But you haven't spent that much time, now haven't you? |

I agree with Dylon, and I would like to add a little bit...
I think the whole image needs a bit more contrast. I also would bring out the hair (Dylon was dead-on correct in saying it looks like a cut-out; no offense intended) a bit by detailing with fine, sharp lines. I think the face looks cool, but to make the eyes appear to be glowing, it would be cool if you would apply some yellow color highlights around the face and near the top of the cape.
Another thing that would help the cape out is some strong detail (and a bit more shading wouldn't hurt). If u pay real close attention to the Soul Reaver mag ads, his cape is almost scruffy lookin'. If you captured that texture, it would look all the better...
-just my two cents

I think what you lack is a strong light source.
You should smudge up Kain a little bit to make him look a little more... smoothed.
I think you need a defenite light source and that would help alot with stronger shading and such.
BTW... does anyone else have the Legacy Of Kain Poster out of the PSM magazine that Joe Madureira drew? Wow, it is really cool... everytime I see a legacy of kain picture i say..... nope.... not as good... it really is awesome.

Sorry guys, but in this case, i'm not going to give the reply 'good work, keep it up' I believe this work needs a strong improvement, and MORE work put into it.
Not sure how experienced the artist is with his/her particular software *photoshop/metacreations/etc*
but the character needs a light source, and not enough *tints and shades* of the colour *green/blue* were introduced.
More time has to be put into the work, and i'd also suggest putting a link to the full sized picture. Unless you want it sized down.
Suggestions: Try adding a lil background, green up the eyes with some glow *yellow colours could be implimented in a fire blaze/ fog kinda effect*
Try putting a contrast between the cloak / the face / and the hair. Because the whole piece is blended *colour wise* too well together.
The cloak looks better than the face by far...it looks clean and sharp, where as the face looks blurry and distorted.
The anatomy on the face needs some fixing.
add a lil shadow ambience
hope you enjoy the suggestions, and can work with it!

BTW this is the full-sized picture.. I worked directly at this resolution.. should I draw at a higher one and size it down ?
YES! Untill I tried painting at higher resolutions, my pictures looked blurry, you'd be surprised at how smooth your pictures will be when you try this (although it is a little more time consuming IMO)
Also, don't take my advice TOO seriously, as I'm a beginner too, then since you never stop learning in art, I guess we're ALL beginners

Thanks to everybody for their critics
Dylon: I'll improve the cape by texturing it the right way. Thanks.
Spike: I spent just an hour on this image.. nothing more..
imdaking: A strong light source.. yes.. you're definitely right. I'm not good at shading and this is just my third picture drew in Photoshop with a Wacom tablet. I'm looking forward to learn how to shade effectively.
AnthonyJ: As you said I'm not exprienced with Photoshop.. (nor am I at drawing ). I'll try to follow your suggestions and see what comes out. I'm still having problems finding the right way to do shading with photoshop.. I tried using the burn/dodge tool but I can't really use it as I'd like, so I tried with the airbrush with this one and it feels a bit better.
BTW this is the full-sized picture.. I worked directly at this resolution.. should I draw at a higher one and size it down ?
