Ok first, after you have a drawing colored, how can you set it to a colored back ground? I use fill to color in the back ground, but I was wondering if there is a different way maybe with the layers. Second, I want to get a color to bleed in some areas, sometimes i color part of a drawing and want some type of fade to white from that color kinda like a gradient. IS there a tool to do that? Thanks

To place te picture on a different sized background you have to make the area around the figure transparant. Then you can add a layer, place it before the first layer and fill it by hitting ALT + backspace.
I personally use paths a lot which you can transform into a selection, or if you prefer you can save the selection for later use.
To bleed a color you can use lots of tool.
You could use the smudge tool, the dodge tool of you could use a mask with a feather.
A mask is just a selection which you can fade away without actually deleting the area.

If you encounter any problems using any of these tools, most advanced users can help you.

Well when doing a picture... I usually always leave the Base, bacground default layer or whatever just tottally blank or color it black. Then I add another layer underneath all my drawing layers and it comes out behind them all not affecting... that is the beauty of layers.

For fading, there should be a small box somewhere around the options toolmenu (thingy) that lets you adjust the fade steps by pixels.
