Everyone at some time will have something to say or rant about. Forums are easy mediums for ranting, because folks can hide behind the computer screen and say what they want to say and in any way they feel. Forum rants are in my opinion a form of passive aggressiveness. People will just fire off whatever they want to say and sometimes in a most vile manner, but would they actually exhibit that characteristic if dealing in a more face to face scenario?

I don't think so.

On a positive note rants are often a good thing, because they let people get stuff off their chest. I know that there have been some forum members here that have ranted about their domestic situations, and the feedback has been for the most part positive and helpful.

You don't know how to tell us how much you hate rants? You rant, of course.

Example: Why the HECK to people think they have the RIGHTS to tell me why my - (insert something you enjoy here) - sucks!

yup

According to dictionary.com:

rant

\Rant\, v. i. [imp. & p. p. Ranted; p. pr. & vb. n. Ranting.] [OD. ranten, randen, to dote, to be enraged.] To rave in violent, high-sounding, or extravagant language, without dignity of thought; to be noisy, boisterous, and bombastic in talk or declamation; as, a ranting preacher.

There are probably three ways to combat a rant: in silence, in a calm and controlled manner, or in another rant.
