Well, it was released yesterday on DVD, and I have yet to see it. But anyhow, I finished work, and went off to a local Futureshop. I was browsing through their computer game selection, and they have a whole bundle of discount games, you know the ones without the boxes, and they're pretty recent games? Well, they had Escape from Monkey Island for 12.99. I Absolutely love MOnkey Island games so I had to buy it. I also grabbed a copy of Monster's Inc. and went to the cashier, and the game was behind the DVD when I handed it to him. The DVD was 19.99, plus 12.99 for the game, yet the register guy told me that the total came to 17 bucks.... I looked at him funnily and gave him my debit card. Lemme just say, I got out of there as quick as possible. I Looked at the receipt later, and I guess when he scanned in the products, he thought that it was only 1 product, and he scanned the back of Escape from Monkey Island thinking it was the back of Monster's Inc. DVD.
Should I feel guilty? or is it my lucky day? |

If you're an adult (being over 19 and with a stable job), do you ever remember being a teenager (19 in my case), not having a job at the moment, and having very little money?
I wouldnt know if this justifies this in your minds, but I think of it as one of those lucky moments.... even though I sorta conned Pixar and Disney out of a little royalty money....... but look at the music industry..... I dunno... just my two cents, am I immoral?!?!?!??! |

Awetopsy: It's not wrong if it's blatant incompetance on the part of the cashier. It's the same as if they put the wrong price on a game, they have to sell it for that price. |

Is 'Escape From Monkey Island' the newest Monkey title in 3D, or is it one of the old DOS games? (I forget). Great games indeed (Monkey Island). |

Shadow: obviously your conscience is bothering you over it, if you need to weigh it out in your mind.
personally I wouldnt give my conscience the chance to bother me about it.
I know that there are lots of times when cashiers make mistakes.. or just blatantly say "take it". All I was saying that my own honesty would take it back and pay for it. And I think that if your conscience is buggin you, then you should do whatever it takes to get it off your consicence.
Thats like if the cashier givs me too much change... I would most definately make him aware, and give him back the change. |

I'll just take it as a "Thank you for shopping here so much" kinda gift. I do go there lots, occasionally to see my friend who works there, and all the employees look at me funnily when they see me there cuz im there so often.
Escape from Monkey Island is the newest of the monkey island series, its Windows based because it needs a 3D accelerator, but its a game from 2000, so its not slow like UT2k3 or anythin.
Awetopsy: I agree with you partially, not that im a lying bastard, but certain situations are to be dealt with different solutions. To me, gettnig extra change is lucky. Getting an extra DVD is extremely lucky. I am a generous person myself, or so I think to be, I usually give my change from buying food (if its less than a buck) to the little coin boxes you find beside the register at the grocery store or mcdonalds and what not. Not to say you're calling me a theif, and not to call myself the most generous person ever, but I think I'm happy right now as it is. No guilt. |
