OMFG it is hard to believe how much you've managed to get out of sketchup with those human characters.
Looking very good! |

samhell, thanks!
How's Genesis coming along?
---------
Few more notes (while I'm here):
Think I spoke too soon about Blender. The 2.61 interface is still bewildering to
me (more sophisticated lighting is still out of reach)...
Still liking Sketchup's cartoony quality, though would need an army to produce
all the models/detail - or I'll do it myself.
---------
Re story, just mentioned to a buddy (yesterday): "All the original ideas that I
thought were futuristic, most of them are close to reality already. Will have to
think again." So I'm thinking again.
---------
Another recent thought/development (from last year; helps make sense of
my choices/direction): would like the 'sets' to be available to anyone, so
they can expand the story or adapt it to their own needs. Hence Sketchup...

durgl, nice to see you still going strong, nice stuff as usual. Have
you tried the latest blender? Cycles is pretty handy actually, I still don't like the result of the samples though....but it will probably gonna come along.
....On another note btw, Bmesh is gonna be added in the next build. Possible with un-even polygons so that way you can shape and build how you want, we talked about it in the 3d thread if you remember?
keep up. |

thanks, still going strong yep, tho not posting here atm (no particular reason)
installed 2.61 yeah but still greek to me
otoh discovered Sculptris models can be imported into Sketchup via
Blender/.3ds export, thus negating my interest in making Sketchup 'do tricks'
(see upthread)...
vaguely recall Bmesh tho again the Blender interface stands in the way
we'll see where it goes from here - new activity in the 3d thread ic, will check it
out |

Discovery draft, cross-post from the 3D thread
http://forums.sijun.com/viewtopic.php?p=429224#429224
Wanted to avoid the 'awe the barbarian' religious standard (or the usual tech
meets 'primitive' culture) in the story - another change of plan.

Cross posted from The 3D Thread
Starting to get fluent in Sculptris and maybe anatomy (some day soon?).
Quick 'character' sketch for the "death cult" (above). Wasn't thinking of
Hitchcock (and now I see it isn't really a likness) but that might be fun (to
have him in charge of the (terrestrial) bad guys).
Onward.

Thanks again, whom. That's a mask above, yeah; one possible example of a
whole culture that I've barely touched.
Reminds me, I should revisit that island model (SC version), see what
nightmare state I left it in... |

More re the "death cult": in Kernis the 'sacred mountain' is heaped with the
bones of human sacrifices. Easy to write, not so easy to paint or model, heh.
*Knowing* what bones look like is much better than fudging it (the other
reason for doing this).

Have a post-ending for this already (ie. another beginning...); will see what's left here
that's worth bothering with...
Definitely needed practice closing/ending stuff (alt+end was useful, yep)...

Otherwise, wondering what's happening for Sijun's twentieth (fast approaching...)...

In minutes and each one is a fingerprint...
Island about 1k length. Four colours (can do eight +, pretty sure). Love that surf...
Uh, geothermal whatsamajigger (entrance)...
-------------------------
Afterthought: samhell's comment 'still stuck in sketchup' - might not be such a bad place
to be?

1. Sculptris method (one sphere extruded through another)
2. 'plate' method, two colours, wip... (looks a lot like a certain film intro?)
Fall back to moon size (3500 km wide v 12000 km), phew...
